AUSTIN, Texas — Home contests against perennial national powers North Carolina and Connecticut, a season-opening trip to China to face Washington and a road contest against Stanford highlight the 2015-16 University of Texas basketball non-conference schedule released today. The Longhorns also will make an appearance in the prestigious Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in the Bahamas over Thanksgiving and host Vanderbilt in the Big 12 / SEC Challenge.

The Big 12 Conference schedule has not been finalized at this time. UT's complete television schedule for the upcoming season will be announced at a later date.

"We are excited about the opportunity to play one of the top non-conference schedules in the country," Texas head coach Shaka Smart said. "Not only will it give our team the chance to compete against some of college basketball's best programs, it will also prepare us for the challenges of Big 12 play. Our terrific home schedule will be extremely exciting for our fans. We want UT students, alumni and all those that support our team to feel a close connection to our program and to help us make the Erwin Center one of the toughest venues for visiting teams in all of college basketball."

Texas will open the season against Washington in Shanghai, China on Saturday, Nov. 14. The contest will tip at 11 a.m. local Shanghai time (9 p.m. Central on Friday, Nov. 13 in the United States). This will mark UT's first game outside the United States since Texas played three games in the Puerto Rico Shootout (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) on Nov. 25-27, 1999.

The Longhorns will play their home opener against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a Battle 4 Atlantis First-Round game on Nov. 21. UT will then head out of the country for the second time in November to participate in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament at Paradise Island, Bahamas (Nov. 25-27). Texas will be joined in the eight-team tourney field by Charlotte, Connecticut, Gonzaga, Michigan, Syracuse, Texas A&M and Washington. Matchups for the games at Atlantis will be announced at a later date.

The Horns will then start a five-game homestand, hosting UT Arlington (Dec. 1), Samford (Dec. 4), UTSA (Dec. 8), North Carolina (Dec. 12) and Appalachian State (Dec. 15). Texas is 2-0 all-time against the Tar Heels at the Erwin Center and has won six of the last meetings against UNC.

UT travels to Maples Pavilion to face Stanford on Dec. 19 in its lone 'true' non-conference road game of the season. After a break for the holidays, the Longhorns will host Connecticut (Dec. 29) before starting Big 12 Conference play. Texas will step out of league play on Jan. 30 to host Vanderbilt in the Big 12 / SEC Challenge.
