Patience is when you're supposed to get mad, but you choose instead to understand.

Admiral Richard Byrd's Antarctic polar expedition of 1939-40 had reached Sulzberger Bay---farther than any previous South Pole venture---when his small wooden ship, the U.S.S. Bear, became ice-locked. Couldn't go forward, couldn't back up. Oops.

Pacing around the pilothouse, the Admiral looked repeatedly in every direction. Seeing no immediate reason for hope, he finally said to his Lieutenant: "Patience. That's what you need in the Antarctic. Give the wind and the tide time to change. That will loosen the ice and allow us to go on." Had I been that Lieutenant, I might have suggested that when we break free, we get the **** out of there, but the Admiral knew that having done all they could, all that was left was waiting. For us, if we've properly prepared, our "winters" will run their course, the ice will break or melt, and patience will win out.

Proverbs 14:29 tells us that "Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly." Work as if it all depends on you; pray as if it all depends on Him. Then practice patience.

Be at Peace.
