The Vandals have 6 players averaging double digit points after 2 games against Sacramento State led by 5' 9" G Gabi Harrington's 14.0. Idaho won both games against SacState (97-73 & 81-70) thoroughly dominating on the glass (+19 rebounds per game). The Vandals are much very similar to the first 3 teams the Longhorns faced, on the smaller side (only 1 player taller than 6'1" - a 6'3" center) and will take quite a few shots from beyond the arc. Texas is 2-0 against Idaho with the closest game being 87-58 in 2013. Prior to that game, the Longhorns played a road game against the Vandals in Moscow (the Idaho version) in 1986. Moscow is the hometown of Longhorn Andrea Lloyd who was on the team that season and currently calls Longhorn WBB games on LHN.

  • Longhorn power forward Charli Collier was double- and triple- teamed the entire game vs aggy but was able to record her 3rd double-double of the season (14 pts, 12 rebounds) in what could be called a 'quiet' game from her. She also recorded her 1st assist of the season on a kick out to a guard for a corner 3 - something she should be working on as teams will be copying what the sheep-shaggers did until the Texas guards and wings force them to change up.
  • Guard Celeste Taylor needs a bounce-back game after an off 29 minutes against atm (7 points, 6 rebounds, only 1 steal and 5 turnovers).
  • Freshman PG Ashley Chevalier and F DeYona Gaston brought more intensity and energy during the 1st half of the loss than most of the veteran players. No news yet on whether Chevalier will be available as her nose was broken by an aggy elbow early in the 4th quarter Sunday. DeYona has 9 blocks through 4 games putting her on pace to finish the season with 47 - last season's leader, Collier, had 39.
  • Despite bouncing her head off the court in the 3rd, G/F Audrey Warren returned to the game and finished with 13 points and 6 rebounds though the points she left at the free throw line (and a headache/sore neck) probably kept her up Sunday night. She led the Longhorns in FT% last season (82.1%) and had been shooting 75% in the first 3 games but went 1/6 at the charity stripe Sunday.
  • Guard Joanne Allen-Taylor turned it on in the 2nd half, scoring primarily on dribble-drives that were largely missing in the Longhorn offense early.
Man, Vic takes losses to heart. Listening to the post game presser, he was not a happy man - said he hates losing more than he likes winning and he seemed to really mean it.
