Super Tuesday slaughter coming - 'No Labels' Nikki?

"No Labels" Nikki??? It could be a reality very soon. She is going to get completely wrecked this coming Tuesday. Staying in the GOP primary afterwards will no longer be a feasible option, imo.

She'll be mocked in the media by both the right and left after Tuesday's brutal, dominating, and utterly humiliating landslide. 😁 That should leave her with two options, imo...

1) Accept the overwhelming will of GOP voters, concede (no endorsement of DT required), and wait until 2028 (post DT/MAGA) for another bite at it

2) Concede, continue embracing her TDS financiers, and complete the party sellout by running "No Labels" to hand the radical left another term

Option 1 should be digestible if she's a true Republican. She's only 52 and people have short memories (w/ exceptions) in prez primaries. It'd be possible to wait out DT and the MAGA furor.

Even if DT wins, a legit 2028 Rep primary race is highly likely. Both DeSantis and Haley can easily reboot for 2028. Too many hungry players to just hand it over to (then 81) DT's chosen VP.

Option 2 would doom any aspirations for future GOP nominee. Going 'No Labels' (independent) and handing over an election to the other side would never be forgiven by Rep voters.

What do you level-headed, emotionally stable folks in The Corral think she'll do after the 45th POTUS demolishes her state by state this coming Tuesday? 😄

Cowboy report on J Brooks

Feb. 26 - Brooks expected to be cleared by camp
It's officially NFL Combine week, and more clarity is beginning to emerge from prospects in attendance including a potential top running back target for the Dallas Cowboys.
Texas running back Jonathon Brooks — who is widely considered the top back in this year's draft — will not be participating in drills at the combine this week as he continues to recover from a torn ACL he suffered in November.
Although the injury was late in his final season with the Longhorns, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported on Monday that Brooks is expected to be cleared before beginning training camp with whatever team drafts him in April. According to the doctor that performed his surgery, Dr. Dan Cooper, Brooks is healing well as expected. Of note, Cooper is also the team physician for the Cowboys.
Brooks is one of a handful of running backs that are expected to come off the board on day two of the draft, which could be the Cowboys' wheelhouse towards nabbing a new backfield weapon. - Harris

Old TV Episode - Beginnings of the Outlaw Country Movement

A lot of us olds already know about this and some of us actually lived through it but for anyone who cares I found this old CMT special looking through youtube covering the outlaw movement. Waylon is prominently featured with a dose of Willie. It's ~30 minutes long so will take some investment..

I forgot just how pretty Jessi Colter was back in those days.

March 8, 2024
Gang violence has plunged Haiti, a Caribbean nation with a long history of upheaval, into one of its worst periods of chaos. Attacks on prisons have set thousands of inmates free. Gunfire at the airport in Port-au-Prince, the capital, has forced the suspension of flights. Homes have been ransacked.
The country’s embattled prime minister, Ariel Henry, has been stranded for days in Puerto Rico as the gang takeover has made it impossible for him to return. Mr. Henry had traveled to Kenya last week to make final arrangements for the East African country to deploy 1,000 police officers in a U.N.-sanctioned mission to quell the violence.
But the deepening chaos is raising doubts about whether the plan can move forward. The Biden administration is increasing pressure on Mr. Henry to establish what Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, called “a presidential transitional council that will lead to elections.”

Opening Saturday's CFB Schedule

Has anyone taken a peek at it? I know it's early, BUT there are a lot of BIG games! Miami vs Florida, Georgia vs Clemson, Notre Dame vs a$m, UConn vs Maryland, Penn State vs West Virginia, Virginia Tech vs Vandy and Florida Atlantic vs Michigan State!

QUESTION; Where do you think Game Day will be???

All right! Blah blah blah, Georgia Georgia Georgia... What would be your second choice?

I'm thinking they may hold off on Georgia because there will be many other times to host them, like when they play us, at HOME! There are just so many other marquee match-ups that day that typically never happen, but I'm ok with being wrong... ;o)

Texas BASEBALL - Rounding the Bases - Spring Break Edition

MUSINGS FROM THE DISCH

Whew, what a weekend. The Longhorns, coming off a 4 game losing streak, including a mid-week beating at the hands of rivals Texas A&M travelled to Lubbock to kick off Big 12 conference play and find something in themselves to ignite the season. While it wasn't always pretty, the Horns leave Lubbock with exactly that, a series win over a team and program that live to hate the Longhorns and everything they stand for.

The Horns kicked off the weekend by absolutely demolishing the Red Raiders by a score of 22-8. Saturday afternoon was not quite the same story as the Tech pitching staff limited the Horns to just 2 runs as they cruised to a 7-2 win. On Sunday, things started off poorly, VERY poorly as the Horns saw 5 total pitches in the 1st inning, while Tech put up a 3 spot and chased starter Charlie Hurley from the game. What the Horns showed from the 2nd inning onward was grit. Texas fought each inning to claw its way back into the game and despite giving up 7 runs on the day, they were able to get a 6th inning lead and hold on for dear life with the bullpen coming through for a 9-7 win, giving them the series.

That series win could be one of those defining moments for the program this season as they now look ahead to a 10 game home stand in which they get Incarnate Word, Washington (x3), Air Force (x2), Baylor (x3), and Texas A&M Corpus-Christi. In addition, the Horns do not play a currently ranked team until April 19th, when they host TCU Horn Frogs at Disch-Falk.

What the Horns need to do is take the grit and Texas Fight they showed from this weekend and put their foot on the accelerator. Build up confidence, continue to work through the many ups and downs that will come with a shaky pitching staff and stack wins.

Speaking of the shaky pitching staff, the team ERA has now ballooned to over 4 and Coach Pierce and staff will need to get back to work in determining who is going to start and who will not. Lebarron Johnson Jr and Cody Howard are pretty much locked in as starters currently. Who will be the #3 man? Can Charlie Hurley work his way back? Can Tanner Witt continue to progress or will someone like Easton Tumis get a shot to win the starting role for the Horns on Sunday? In the bullpen, Coach Pierce has always worked his way through the arms to figure out who he can trust and in which situations. It feels like we are quickly approaching an inflection point where if you want to get innings, you better step up and show that you can throw a strike. This team does not have elite arms on it currently that can go out and get strikeouts at a prodigious rate. Instead, the bullpen arms need to realize that what they can do is trust their defense and simply attack, pitch after pitch. No more 2 out walks that come back to haunt, no more nibbling at the edges, throw it over that plate and keep it low.

In the mean time, enjoy the series win over the Red Raiders and the fact that as an athletic program in general, there is no need to ever go back to Lubbock.

MBB: Jay Wright re: ISU and Houston

“But I’ll tell you a team that a lot of people are not talking about that I think is ranked number six in the country right now: Iowa State. I did their game for CBS when they played Kansas and beat Kansas. And preparing for that game, I watched the film of their game where they beat Houston. So, they’re the top defensive team, and if you look at the analytics, they’re always like, one, two or three because it changes by the game. But to me, of the teams that I’ve watched, they’re the best defensive team I’ve watched, even better than Houston slightly, slightly.

They’ve got a point guard in Tamin Lipsey who can really run the show and could get it going. They’ve got guards that can really get it going. Keshon Gilbert can get it going. They could really surprise people, I love watching them play. And it’s crazy to say the number six team in the country and a team that might win the Big 12 could surprise people, but I don’t hear anybody talking about.

Yeah, when you hear the Big 12, everyone seems to go to Houston. Like, I didn’t realize that Iowa State is one game behind them in the conference right now.

Yeah, and you know, it’s interesting, you say about Houston, who I love. They have an injury to Joseph Tugler, who was a big part of what they do. He played like 20 minutes a game and he’s a great rim protector and rebounder. Houston has good guard depth, but now, they’ve only got two guys up front, two bigs up front that have really played. I think that’s going to affect them, I’m interested in them see them play in the Big 12 tournament without Joseph Tugler. I think it’s a bigger loss than people have talked about right now.”

OT: A little High School football nostalgia for "olds"....

Do you boys remember "mud games" in the rain on Friday nights. Dallas ISD was just beginning to install "Astroturf" in HS stadiums in 1967, so many games had to be played on grass fields. Glance at this 1963 film of UT and Aggy narrated by the great Kern Tips. So many memories (including the refs' uniforms).
