Winter of 1969

In the winter of 1969, an elite force of the U.S. Army was sent on a top-secret assignment in southeast Vietnam. The objective, rescue Sergeant Four Leaf Tayback from a heavily guarded NVA Prison Camp. The mission was considered to be near suicide.

- Of the 10 men sent, four returned.

- Of those four, three wrote books about what happened.

- Of those three, two were published.

- Of those two, just one got a movie deal.

This is the story of the men who attempted to make that movie.

OT: dog tracker devices

We are one step away from adopting a Houdini escape artist dog. Looking for feedback on dog tracking collars/devices

We currently have one escape artist which we use apple tag with moderate success. Doesn’t work fast enough for me

Will probably need something more accurate and reliable with the new family member. Willing to pay a reasonable subscription price.

Electric fences don’t do too well in our situation

Thanks

I know what you’re thinking: Who is Wil Wheaton? Apparently he was on Star Trek at some point.

Regardless, did Larry David cross the line by attacking a puppet?

Recent UT visit has the Horns high on WR Carterrious Brown's list

Seguin wide receiver Carterrious Brown has been on the Texas radar for quite a while, picking up a UT offer back in May of 2023. In late January, Brown made his way to Austin for a Texas junior day and said it was a good experience overall.

“You can’t go wrong with Texas,” Brown said. “They were showing us the place, what’s good about it, why you should go there.”

On the visit, Brown was able to speak with Texas wide receivers coach Chris Jackson, UT head coach Steve Sarkisian and some members of the Texas strength and conditioning program. The message from the UT staff was to keep working hard to stay ahead of the competition.

“Keep grinding. They’re always going to be looking for someone better than you so you have to keep up the work,” Brown said.

In his talks with Jackson, Brown said the conversations were direct and the players were told that everyone is given a fair shot at Texas, but you also have to earn your way to the playing field.

“He keeps it real. He keeps it real with all the players. He’s not going to show any favoritism,” Brown said. “He’s going to give you your chances and you do what you do with it.”

Along with Texas, Brown visited Baylor and UTEP in January. He hasn’t locked in any official visits, but said Baylor and Arizona State will likely get two of his trips. As for the Longhorns, they’ll likely get one of those visits as well if the staff continues to push.

“Texas is top five for sure. They’re up there,” Brown said.

And what has the Longhorns in good standing for the talented pass-catcher from Seguin?

“Everything. I love the state of Texas,” Brown said. “I’ve been here really my whole life. It’s a big place and there are a lot of things to do out here.”

Biden Plans...

Photo ID Cards for Aliens in “Normalization of Illegal Immigration”.

How convenient, right before our next Presidential election, after he destroys our border and is in the process of overwhelming our system by allowing, at minimum, 8 - 10M Illegals (so far), sending them all over the country creating millions of new Voters.

"Breitbart News has chronicled how DHS is planning to roll out a pilot program that will give border crossers and illegal aliens photo ID cards, similar to a driver’s license, upon their release into the United States interior from the southern border."

Another PSA for YouTube TV

I don’t know if folks are aware but you can share the service with 2 other people in your area. I’m not sure if you can all watch at the same time for 3 people but you definitely can for 2.

My dad and I have been splitting it and it’s only $45 per person with 4K and it was so cheap we added NBA ticket as well for $15 per month.

Just FYI if you’re looking to save a little money. Base package is $70 I think.

Today's Gift (2-9)

God hath given you one face, and you make yourself another.
~~~~~~~~ Shakespeare, from Hamlet
A friend of mine tells a great story about a time when his son and daughter-in-law asked him to come to their house and stay with their 9-year-old son for the day. He and his grandson were outside playing catch, and the the boy was showing off his vast array of pitches, one of which connected with a window, sending glass in all directions. The boy's reaction took my friend completely by surprise: "Well," the boy said, without emotion, "I have to call my Dad." And so he did, reporting the broken window and his errant throw, in a short conversation that ended with "Thanks Dad."
My friend's son would later explain that at their house, they reward truth, no matter how difficult or unpleasant. They gave each other the freedom to be honest.
Lies deceive others, but they also keep us hidden from our true selves. Sooner or later, we'll get toxic on our own BS. Truth keeps lines of communication open, and enables us to cultivate a reputation for honesty and integrity. The pain of an event will pass, but the pain of lying about it will live on.
Blessings, lads and lasses on this great Friday.
