Best thing that ever happened to the Big12 is ...

He has no decision making power, but he has a say as a journalist. And if I remember correctly, he pushed hard for Texas to join the Pac back before A&M left for the SEC and then after the Big XII was depleted.

    Shaggy Bevo/Texas

That's funny. A guy thinks he's getting a business that is clicking, and everybody leaves as he takes over. That should be an episode of The Office.

Best thing that ever happened to the Big12 is ...

Speaking of Big XII and its future: is Chip Brown still pushing for Texas to go Left Coast (Pac) or else figure how to get the Pac to merge with the Big XII?

Best thing that ever happened to the Big12 is ...

The best thing that ever happened to the Big XI is that Texas has never decided to leave. The Big XII is a Power conference as long as Texas remains a member, and the Big XII is on death watch the second Texas decides to leave.

If the ACC offered Texas an invitation, would you be excited?

Last year, a conference put the most teams ever into the Sweet 16 (6) and tied with the most Elite 8 teams (4) and had the most Ws ever in the NCAA tournament. Was that the Big 12? If not, and the Big was rated #1, then the Big 12 was overrated.

If the ACC offered Texas an invitation, would you be excited?

Richt is easily the 2nd best coach in UGA history. and the only thing that kept him from being the best UGA coach ever is he never had a Herschel walker to deliver a national championship. Dooley won 1 natty with Walker, and 3 SEC titles with Walker. take out those 3 years, and Richt's UGA...

If the ACC offered Texas an invitation, would you be excited?

Yep, last year proved no doubt that Big 12 basketball was best. I mean, the Big 12 totally dominated the NCAA tournament. Right?

If the ACC offered Texas an invitation, would you be excited?

How long has it been the ACC went 4-0 vs. the SEC on Thanksgiving Weekend? If you think ACC football is what you say, then you are stupid as a rock.

    ACC network!

That is not true. For example, if Notre Dame were all about money, getting the most, it would have joined the BT a long time ago. If Texas were all about the most money, it would have joined the SEC before the Aggies could have and taken OU as #14. UNC would make the SEC even richer, which...

    ACC network!

If Texas and ND were to become full members of ACC football, we would surpass the SEC in football. Texas addded to our baseball would make it the equal of SEC baseball with a good chance to become better at that too. And then there is ACC basketball, and lacrosse and soccer and women's sports...

If the ACC offered Texas an invitation, would you be excited?

The ACC is like the Marines, as well as Gale and Evelle Snoats, in that no man is left behind.

If the ACC offered Texas an invitation, would you be excited?

Phll Steele's pre-season assessments are that this year the SEC will again be the best football conference and the ACC will be second best.

If the ACC offered Texas an invitation, would you be excited?

That is a good way to begin thinking about the possibility. Why? To begin, Texas may already have decided that the Big 12 is not and never again can be the long term solution for the University of Texas. Second, the SEC is not a viable option for Texas. If Texas is not going to remain the King...

Do you WANT the B12 to hold together?

Are you referring to football only? The SEC run this century is unprecedented in the history of the sport. It is worse than foolish to deny what that means. But is nearly as foolish to think as many SEC fans do that the gap is a huge gulf that nobody can make up. For example, last year, the ACC...

Do you WANT the B12 to hold together?

Yes, I remember the SWC. I remember things like Arkansas ranked Top 10 at SMU (Pony Express of Dickerson, James, McElhinney) ranked Top 3, in Cowboys Stadium, and maybe 45,000 in attendance, 20,000 of them Hawgs fans. When Arkansas left the SWC, the 9 team league had only 3 athletics...

Do you WANT the B12 to hold together?

The travel issue is an important one. It is the reason Dodds stated that if you must travel for several games, it is much better to travel east than west. That is a key reason the Pac was never a smart option - the other is that the Pac is #5 in total TV viewers in both revenue sports and has...

Do you WANT the B12 to hold together?

I think Dodds did all he could as Texas AD. And there was nothing more the Big 12 commissioner could have accomplished. Dodds was correct that ND could not remain in the BE. ND non-revenue sports people are like the same people at UNC, UVA, Dook - they have a lot of power, and the university...
