Haven’t been to Gainesville or Athens, but here are some recommendations for those going to Lexington.

Airports
-Lexington airport is small. 10 gates and flights to Dallas, Chicago, New York, DC, Charlotte, Atlanta, Denver, and Philly, along with some Allegiant routes.
-Louisville and Cincinnati airports are about 85 miles away. There are nonstop flights from Austin and Houston to Cincinnati.

Hotels
-Manchester is probably the nicest inside.
-Marriott City Center is downtown, near steakhouses like Jeff Ruby’s.
-Hyatt and Hilton are older and downtown.
-The Origin Hotel is in a shopping/dining area called the Summit

Distillery tours/tastings
-Buffalo Trace and Woodford are within 30 miles of Lexington. Buffalo Trace tour spots are available about 6 weeks out. Woodford about 3 months out.
-Bardstown is just over an hour away and has more distilleries.

Horse Farm tours
Coolmore (Justify, American Pharoah) and Lane’s End (Flightline) are just outside of Lexington.

Keeneland race track has racing in April and October. The game is the perfect date for fall weather and Keeneland. You should go to Keeneland one afternoon, depending on the game time.

Commonwealth Stadium (Kroger Field) holds about 60,000. It is not fancy. Best seats are 25M-27M with Woodford Reserve club access.

Parking passes are typically harder to get than tickets because people tailgate without going into the game.

If Kentucky beats Ole Miss, prices will jump up. But if they lose at South Carolina and at Georgia, prices will fall quite a bit.

You’ll need a rental car. The city is not walkable. The tourist attractions are distilleries and horse farms. And the downtown area is pretty small. The campus is just south of downtown, and the stadium is just south of the campus.
