Kansas State is not a good football team. Consider the following Big 12 team stats...

9th in points per game
9th in passing offense
9th in rushing offense
8th in yards per rush
9th in total defense
9th in points allowed
9th in yards allowed
10th in sacks

I think you guys get the point. The Wildcats are Lawrence, Kansas bad in football this year and yet I still think tomorrow's game will be tricky for a few quarters because this Texas team still hasn't proven a few things this season, one of which is playing well on the road (remember Maryland?).

More than anything, I just think in a moment of pure crisis this week, Bill Snyder will rally the troops for two quarters of competitive football. I just don't think the Wildcats have four good quarters of football in them because it is a truly wretched football team.

(Other thoughts on a Friday)

Number two

Sam Ehlinger's season quarterback efficiency has climbed over the 140 mark. That's 16 points better than the number he posted last season and it kind of represents the basement mark needed each week. If Ehlinger posts a 140-rating tomorrow, Texas will win the game. If he posts something below 140, Texas could be in for a real dogfight.

You'd like that number to creep into the 150s before the season is completed.

FYI, Colt McCoy posted a 139.2 rating as a sophomore in 2007.

Number three

Ehlinger has averaged 7.5 yards per attempt this season, which ranks 17th in the Big 12 among players that have thrown passes this season. That number ranks 9th in the Big 12 among current starting quarterbacks. Only TCU's Shawn Robinson has a worse yards per attempt.

Personally, I think this is more of a Texas offense issue than it is an Ehlinger issue, but this is an area of the offense that must get better.

Number four

Here's how I would rank the best Texas true freshmen of the last 20 years:

1. Derrick Johnson (2001)
2. Roy Williams (2000)
3. Jamaal Charles (2005)
4. Cedric Benson (2001)
5. Caden Sterns (2018)

Before this season concludes, Sterns could rank higher on this list.

Number five

The player on the Kansas State offense that you need to know is Isaiah Zuber. He's basically the only thing to write home about, as he ranks fourth in the Big 12 in receiving yards, second in yards per catch and fifth in receiving touchdowns.

If Texas shuts him down, the Kansas State offense might not score a touchdown this week.

Number six

Did you know Gary Johnson is a co-leader in the Big 12 in tackles for loss with six?

Did you know Kansas State doesn't have a single player ranked in the top 40 in tackles for loss?

Now you do.

Number seven

Next week is going to be a monster. Get ready.
