Fellas, based on a mutual agreement between myself and 104.9 The Horn, our daily Orangebloods Radio show ran its last show today.
The bottom line for the station is that they were frustrated that I wasn't able to be inside the building enough because of my commitment to Orangebloods and the bottom line for me is that the last eight months have reminded me why I actually loathe working in the radio industry.
I appreciate Erin Hogan being such a strong advocate for the show and the site, but it's just a failing partnership with responsibility that can be shared around, myself included. Honestly, I'm glad that they took the first step towards a change because I would have finished out the season after giving them my word that I would do so, but the reality is that I feel pardoned.
The good news is that for those of you that love the podcasts, we'll almost certainly do more of those than we've done recently.
Even better news is that getting rid of the hours invested in radio will allow me to direct much more of my attention to Orangebloods, which is what I crave.
I'm unsure of my long-term radio future, but at this very moment I'm more than content to never work in the radio industry again. I feel like I've said that before, but sometimes you need thoughts to be reinforced and believe me when I say that has happened.
Meanwhile, it's cool to announce that a guy in the industry that I have a lot of respect for - Rod Babers - will be taking over the 1-3pm time slot for the station. I wish him nothing but luck, as I've loved that dude for almost two decades.
On another note, I want to thank @CMMYSR for being such a great partner. He will be involved in our podcasts moving forward and I can't say enough about what he's done for me over the last five years or so.
As for my current mood...
