do we got any updates on who’s coming back other than Christian, Brock and Dylan?

I'm not a big basketball guy, but saw last night on the ESPN crawl that Tech landed a commitment from a top rated five star player. It's unbelievable what Tech has been able to accomplish with their basketball program and sustain it.

Big football schools usually don't do well in Basketball for some reason. Maybe players like going to places where they don't take second stage to football.

Tyreese Hunter us a huge pickup. Last year Carr struggled being the guy to set up all the other guys. He lost the aggressiveness that made him so good in the first place. Doesn’t have to worry about that now. Hunter can run the offense and Carr can just go score. I’d expect a much improved backcourt next year.

Tech lost their top 3 players to the transfer portal as well though so they have some ground to make up.

Texas basketball freshman Arterio Morris was arrested in early June.

Incoming Texas basketball freshman Arterio Morris was arrested in early June and charged with misdemeanor assault, per the Austin American-Statesman’s Brian Davis. The American Statesman acquired a police affidavit that states police responded on June 2 at 5:30 p.m. CT to a domestic disturbance call.

According to the police, Morris drove to the home of Caden Barnes to speak with her. Barnes’ sister let Morris into the residence and Morris went to speak with Barnes, who was sleeping.

Barnes told police that Morris “grabbed her by the left forearm/wrist and pulled her up off the bed,” per the affidavit acquired by the American-Statesman. Morris grabbed at Barnes’ sports bra and caused a 3-inch-long abrasion on her neck, per a police description.

A Texas spokesman told the American-Statesman that Morris has not been suspended from the basketball team.

“We were made aware of the allegations involving Arterio Morris and provided all information we had regarding this situation that occurred outside of the city of Austin to our campus Title IX office.” a statement from Texas provided to the Austin-Statesman reads. “We will continue to closely monitor the situation and cooperate with the University and legal process, which remains ongoing.”

A McDonald’s All-American, Morris signed with the Longhorns in 2022 out of Dallas (Tex.) Kimball High School. 247Sports ranked him as the No. 17 prospect nationally, No. 2 point guard and No. 3 prospect in the state of Texas.

247Sports analyst Brandon Jenkins evaluated Morris and projected him as a future second-round pick in the NBA Draft.

“Morris is an elite point guard prospect who is a raw talent that has the upside to potentially be the best player from the 2022 class,” his evaluation reads. “Morris has pop to his game and is elusive with his handle when breaking down defenders. His short-area quickness and burst coupled with his shiftiness grant him the ability to get where ever he pleases in the half-court game. He is at his best when playing downhill where he is an instinctual player when finishing creatively at the rim. Thanks to his length, quickness, and size, Morris can also be leaned upon as a multi-positional defender.

“As he learns to play with a consistent killer instinct and polishes his overall game; mainly his jumper and decision-making, Morris could potentially take off and be mentioned in the conversation for the best lead guard in the class.”

Morris was part of a Texas signing class that ranked fifth in the 247Sports team composite rankings. He was one of two five-star prospects, including forward Dillon Morris. Morris ranked as the No. 7 prospect nationally and No. 2 small forward.
