Soooooooooooooo,

Whatcha got?

I'm going with Houston Texas bowl against Mormon lite. The utes have struggled this year so they shouldn't beat us like a rented mule. We might actually win that game.

Texas Bowl vs Miss St. I’d rather play Aggy but I doubt it happens.

reddit is saying that we are going to the texas bowl against missouri. dont know how accurate that is.

So what do we know about mizzu?

Lock in there QB. He averages about 300 passing yards a game. Witter is their top rusher, right at 1000 yards this year (992). And moore is their top receiver with over 1000 yards receiving.
Mizzu is averaging 511 yards of offense per game and score points..... a lot of them.

They are fairly balanced in play calling averaging 33.5 passes per game and 37.5 rushes per game. They throw for a little over 300 and rush for right at 200 per game.

We suck against teams with good offenses - OU, OSU, Tech, & TCU.

Most teams are not as good against good offenses as they are against bad offenses.
True. But, our offense is terrible.

My point was, we match up better against a good defensive team (with a bad or average offense) because our offense can’t score in the first place.

For the first 4 games this year Mizzou was a downright bad team. Missed defensive assignments, missed tackles and no pressure up front. The offense started slow and had to warm up with a few 3 and outs before going to work.

Offensively we opened up quite a bit when Emmanual Hall became a starter at WR and a pretty consistent deep ball threat. Ish Witter is a guy who just kept working for 4 years and is really producing now. He doesn't have blazing speed, nor does he break ankles when he cuts, but he has a pretty good sense of where he is and what he needs to do. Great senior season for a kid that a lot of fans wrote off. O-line started out a bit slow too as some younger guys got promoted over more experienced ones. Since then they have done a good job keeping the rush off of Lock and making lanes for the running game.

On D we are still susceptible to deep throws and stuff in the middle of the field. The line has improved a lot and gets pressure. Linebackers have started to look pretty good too.

I look forward to the game. Ever since Deloss Dodds made that statement about Texas' bad years being better than Missouri's good years I've wanted a chance for Mizzou to make Texas have a bad year - or at least end it badly.

I don't think Texas vs Utah in the Texas bowl was even a possibility. The Texas bowl is Big 12 vs $EC the way it is set up.

Well thanks for the info. You get a chance to play mean ole Texas now. The school that you guys blame for all your troubles. I'm sure you'll get your "revenge" and feel good about it until you realize that Mizzou will NEVER, EVER have a chance in the SEC East. EVER.

Hope you guys find your way back as I like the Mizzou program

I’m all for talking trash, but MiZZOU has already won the SEC east twice. I’d say they’ve had more than a chance. Down right now, but that happens when a great coach leaves. As we know

With Texas recruits and a system of success and in a down era for that division. You honestly think they have a chance with the resurgence of Georgia, and probable turn around with Dan Mullen at Florida?

They have as much of a chance as Arkansas in the West.

Doesn't mean they're a bad program or won't have the occasional 10 win season, but I just don't see another East title within at least the next decade.

It is true that Mizzou has had surprising success in the SECE. But Florida and Tennessee have been as down as they could possibly be. Georgia has not been great until this year.

This would be like Texas, Oklahoma, and whoever is the #3 traditional program in the BIG12 all being down at the same time. Or Alabama, Auburn, and LSU all sucking simultaneously. Won't happen often, or for very long.

I don’t know if their current coach can do it, but yeah I think they have as good a shot as any. We don’t know what Dan Mullen will do at Flordia. We think he will do well but who knows? UGA has had a great season. A lot of jrs and SRs on the two deep this year. I’d say we need to see a little more before we hand them the east on a yearly basis.

If Locke comes back for his Sr year at Mizzou I’d say the east is fairly wide open.

In a time where Florida and Tennessee are down, Mizzou finished tied with Kentucky and a game back of South Carolina.

I'll stay with my feelings on the Mizzou matter

Yeah this year they weren’t good. At least didn’t start good, but that’s not what you said. You said they had no shot in the SEC east. Since they have won it twice that would be wrong is all I’m saying.

It’s worth noting as well that although they finished tied with UK. They did blow out UK in the head to head meeting.

Like I said I don’t know if Barry Odom can do it, but with the right coach Mizzou can challenge for the east on a semi regular basis.

Mizzou is a top 10 scoring offense, guaranteed to be a problem without Hill, Elliott and Jefferson. D not so great, but neither was TECH on paper, lol.

Mizzou has beat a bunch of hacks: 3-8, 4-8, 3-9, 4-7, 4-8, 5-7 and 4-8. Not one team with a winning record.

Mizzou is trash, but, well, we...aren't good.

Mizzu has suffered in enrollment applications over the last few years. There's a reason why. The negative blowback from these events have also caused a drop in quality athletes that committed to mizzu. It's going to be a long road back for them.

Many in "mean ole Texas" and across the Big XII blame Mizzou for conference realignment and/or where they landed. There is certainly a debate that could take place on that topic, but ultimately everybody acted in what they thought was their self-interest. In the grand scheme of things the Big XII was a good thing for Mizzou in building a brand and improving recruiting. SEC now gives us revenue share equity and significant revenue growth. Will will still always trail the blue-bloods in money. But I wonder at what point the extra money just means nicer seating for alumni at the game or a better softball stadium vs. on-field results in football.

I really do detest Deloss, but I probably have to get in line behind some UT fans on that one. The dude was a jackass. He tried to act in the interest of UT and the rest of the conference be damned (LHN), but he was a vocal critic of MU's role in destabilizing the conference. That's trying to have it both ways. Either we all act as a team or we all act for ourselves. I would say that decision was made in the 90s when the TV revenue sharing formula was created.

Anyway, I like the matchup. Any good story needs a villain and if you are a Mizzou fan, it's UT. If you are a UT fan, it's MU (either that or maybe you are not interested in this particular story). Either way it will be fun for me and a bunch of Tiger fans.

This was a bad year for us that got turned around. Next year is the one that has been circled on people's calendars for a couple of years. We had few experienced upperclassmen coming back this year. Next year we get back 75% of the 2-deep.

We don't get to reload with 5-stars like UT or Alabama. But sometimes 5 year players develop into more than you ever get out of a 2-3 year 5-star. We have to win as a team and play smarter football. This year started far from that, but has improved. Next year is the likely our best shot in the next 3-4.

It dealt a bigger blow to the university than it did to football.Mizzou's football issues over the last 2 years have more to do with 2 sub-par recruiting classes in a row and some instability around Pinkel's departure. We didn't get some in-state kids we wanted this year, but we are getting good players, so overall things are positive.

.
Agree with what you said, but Mizzou lost to UK. It was a close game and there was a little home cooking (or a tono of incompetence) by the refs that took away the last 20 seconds of the clock when Mizzou was on the UK 30 yard line and down by 4. That was a loss, but the first game this year where the team showed any sign of a pulse offensively or defensively. Mizzou won the stats but lost the game.

They way Texas played this season and finished it out versus TECH, it should be a Tigeriffic cakewalk for Mizzou.

Starting LT skipping
Starting Safety skipping
Starting Corner likes weed
Starting ILB Deion Toe may or may not play

Starting LT is a big deal because of how good he is and also getting some pressure from the blind side can make up for a lot of shortcomings in MU secondary. Arkansas offense torched us for long plays because they kept our rush off of Allen.

Starting S is a big deal because most teams have needed over the top help to keep Hall from catching the long ball. The kid doesn't have a great catch %, but it seems to be the same for 7 yard and 70 yard passes, so it's obvious that we should throw the latter to him. J'mon Moore is still our leading receiver on the other side and he can also catch a deep ball.

Who cares about the corner liking weed? Doesn't everybody?

ILB is not as big of a deal in isolation. (I'm more concerned about line play and stretching the field with vertical and lateral passing.) If I'm a UT fan my bigger concern is that there seems to be this concept that showing up for the bowl game is optional. If UT players show up ready to play this will be a good game. If they think they can mail it in and coast, they better hope that the bad Mizzou team from the beginning of the year shows up or we will put up 70 points.
