The buyouts will more than offset the $5 million saved on Charlie's buyout by retaining him this year, if Charlie ends up being shown the door next year. It's no different than when people thought Mack wouldn't meddle when he brought in Bryan Harsin. Deep down Charlie wants a ball control, pound it on the ground offense and when the pressure is on in big games that's what he'll revert towards. There's a fine line between supporting a coach and covering up his glaring deficiencies. At $5 million/year he should be the one imparting knowledge to young assistants not relying on them because he's clearly deficient on one side of the ball.
