13 hours in and I think you have your answer.
I didn't realize this was an option...what/how?
I've been using it for years, haven't paid for any bs cable in a decade! Reddit streams are awesome, i love them and I have had great luck with them. I usually find a good HD stream of most games rather quickly. Anyone who actually pays for the privilege of watching college football, thanks. Someone has to keep them in business so advertisers will waste their money on commercials that nobody cares about.
Anyone used Reddit to watch games?
this ain't the reddit demographic
What is that supposed to mean?
this ain't the reddit demographic
reddit is largely younger and left leaning.
This right here! No one pays attention to commercials. When one comes on, I mute the sound immediately. Other than live sports, I record everything that I watch so I can fast forward through the stupid, annoying commercials.

yeah, nobody likes them, theyre gay. What's worse is you pay for cable, only to get programming that you have to watch commercials on. It's like on the internet, ads are what makes a site free. You pay for it so you dont get ads. Nope with cable you get both ends of the stick.
Is it? I have come to discover that people from all walks of life use reddit, from all over the entire planet and it's only as political as you want it to be. True, younger left leaning people have a tendency to be hip to the new things and keep up with technology and trends but there is a subreddit for almost anything you can imagine. There's one called humansbeingbros. It's nothing but pictures, videos, stories etc of humans just being awesome to eachother. Also one of the most highly trafficked subreddits on the entire site is called the donald, and it's completely devoted to god emperor donald trump. You may think I am kidding but they literally refer to him as GEOTUS (god emperror of the united states). Plenty of subreddits for every political party, even some you havent even heard of it. Plenty of canadians arguing with eachother about politics too, that's always funny to watch.
But anyway, yeah, free sports, free tv, all in HD. I'm all for it.
Only thing is I'm sure with Reddit type of services, that you can't record stuff. I've had DirecTV for 20 years and love it. Is it a little pricey, yeah, but IMO it's the best all round TV package out there. I don't mind paying for it. I will not and cannot watch TV shows and wait through commercials. That's why I record everything that I watch.
yes, the demographic is majority left and young. there are subs like r/t_d, r/conservative, etc... but those are not the norm (also, t_d is tons of bots. go post something stupid/unrelated/against trump and it will quickly gain upvotes).
and maybe try not to use the word "gay" as a synonym for "stupid"
Screen recording using PC is pretty established, i have in the past used a PVR to record content im viewing to share with others. So as long as you have an application you trust and you know how to use it, you could easily record any streamed content and save it to your hard drive. I agree, commercials remain a very lame nuisance and I cant express how satisfying it is to watch my favorite tv show which has already been scrubbed for commercials. I suppose i could, it's *really* satisfying. You can sometimes tell when a scene cuts to commercial at a cliffhanger, but all i see is the next scene starting right up. But watching live sports in HD is pretty great too.
Too much work. Plus, I like to watch the shows that I recorded on either the TV in my den, or the one in my bedroom before I go to sleep. I don't have the desire to go through all of the stuff to record stuff, save it to a hard drive and the move it between multiple TV's. DirecTV makes this easy to do with their receivers, with no effort.

I cant say it's a majority demographic because, and i know this is just anecdotal, but i know a few crusty 60 year old conservatives who use it daily, along with many of my 40 and 50 something coworkers and i am a conservative myself who has been using it for a decade. I can see why you have the impression, but even if that were the case, so what? It's a site that has something for just about anyone, not just for the majority demographic that you think peruses the site. And liberal/conservative has nothing to do with the vast majority of traffic on that site, or at the very least, i rarely see politics because i am not a political person, so your experience is as political as you make it. Many news aggregate and social discussion sites pander to a particular demographic and i dont have that impression with reddit. I suppose it doesnt mean you arent allowed to have a conflicting opinion. RE the donald, perhaps it does have many bots, but i have went in there and made a single disparaging remark about their god emperor and immediately lost all posting privileges. It's more of a subreddit that does not accept any sort of dissent.
Are you my mom, trying to tell me what i can and cant say? lol. If i choose to use the word gay colloquially to describe an undesirable thing, I can do so. My gay friend do it too
Not sure what you mean too much work. I click download, and a few minutes later its done. In many cases it's available online for download by the time the show airs that evening. I should have been more clear, all the work has already been done for you. And if you network your pc, you can have it on any tv in the house. And its yours. As a directv user, All you are really doing is using directv's proprietary hardware and paying them for the privilege. But hey to some it's worth it and it's why they will continue to stay in business. I'm glad for it because without folks like you paying for it, i wouldnt have so many options.
i'm saying the typical OB poster would be turned off by the typical "popular" front page material.
you can do as you like, but you sound like an uncultured moron using "gay" to describe something stupid. And you sound even stupider saying "my gay friend do it too."
I got black friends and I ain't dropping the n word around them, colloquially or not.

I hate break it to you but I think ALL the horses finally left the barn on this. If I can figure this out with a little help from my friends, then this expensive TV thing is very short lived. I watched a couple of movies last weekend. It was very cool.
Ya, I look at ESPN's contracts with the sec and acc, fox's contract with b1g and smile. These idiots have no idea what is about to hit them.Perhaps but there's subreddits about almost every imaginable thing, like thousands of them, many that would have no appeal to a younger, liberal minded person. IMO its a site that has something for every kind of person, especially those people who don't stick with the front page.
You can hold the opinion that it's uncultured and moronic to call something stupid gay, and i can hold the opinion that your opinion is gay. We both win! I enjoy telling a gay friend to stop being so gay when he's whining about game of thrones. You'll get over it, or you wont. I cant wait to see how this turns out for you though. Riveting.
It's the future. People dont want to be beholden to some package of 100 channels when they only care to watch 12 of them. Remember when people got tired of buying $20 cds with 14 songs just to listen to the single one they like? Then services like napster were born, and now it's commonplace to just stream a single song you like by a particular artist. Much the same with our media- people are ditching cable, and satellite services for ad-hoc services like netflix, hulu or other streaming services to collate the content they really want to see. Now you can purchase/rent/whatever single episodes of a show of your choice piecemeal.

Oh man. espn is in to it by billions right? And they are still losing subscribers every month. lost 2 million last year, and 4 million in 2017. It does make me laugh a little. Hell they lost their asses on the longhorn network too, about 50 million last I saw. Keep digging!
Why would anyone bless my heart? That sounds really gay.
i guess you think this is clever.
