Can't believe I am starting a thread like this, but the Strong Era needs to end today. Texas needs let fans, boosters, high school coaches, recruits know that it is serious about winning. Time to start getting serious about Herman and a few other coaches who can come here and win now!

I agree. Strong has shown over and over that he can't coach on this level. What he fields is embarrassing. His record is embarrassing.

Wait----- hold up........ you're just NOW coming to this conclusion?

My train left the station in Jan 2014...... were you at the platform?

I thought a change should have been made after last year. This year I was willing to wait to end of season.....now sorry I missed the train.

I've officially jumped off the train. I now lie bloody and beaten in the gorge below! Charlie needs to be shit canned at the end of todays game. 6 defensive penalties on the first K St. drive. I just don't know what to say about that??

That is what he has earned. I would be tactical and terminate him after I have a big name hire (for recruiting).

I can understand if you are getting beat in one on one match ups. It happens but in this case guys aren't even in position to get beat. The talent is there. They are young guys and they are going to get beat every now and then 1 on 1 but at least put yourself in a position to make plays. This is Manny _iaz level incompetence.

No sense in getting rid of the man now. Who is going to run the show? Bedford, Gilbert? Wait until the last game do it quickly and get a good coach.

I am not sold on Herman. Last time around Mike Tomlin was my # 1 choice. Still is, extremely long shot but still would make the call. Tomlin may pick up the phone with Big Ben at the twilight of his career but I doubt it. Next choice would be Dan Mullen. he has done well for an extended period of time at MS State and has been able to sustain higher levels than what has traditionally occurred there. If you have been to the town, and seen the facilities what he has done there is pretty amazing. Third choice would be Harsin. He did a good job at Arkansas State and Boise hasn't had a drop off. Has some ties at Texas .

I think Texas has been given The Big XII curse. Since the all of the conference changes nothing about Texas has been the same!!!

There is no benefit in firing him now unless you are looking at someone on staff for the job I've said before I wouldn't hate someone like Gilbert getting the job if we couldn't lure our top 1-2 choices. So if you wanted to see how Gilbert handled things then make the move. If not then you might as well ride out the year.

Tom Herman is trying to lose some money lately. Navy, Tulsa, and now SMU. Weird.

Why would you put that on Gilbert? He needs to spend all his time on the offense. There is a ton of BS administrative work, media commitments and other work that would take him away from where he is needed most. So you lose Strong you move Gilbert up and now you have someone in quality control moving up.

If true(and I have doubts) it's only a good move if you are considering Gilbert long term. If not it's rather useless.

LSU made a change and now look like a complete different team. Is LSU more attractive to recruits now or if they would have kept Miles until the end of the season? If Miles were still there I bet they would still look like crap with no offense. Coach O came in and changed the narrative. Instead of recruits watching a dumpster fire every Saturday they are watching LSU win and can see that things can get better. Texas will continue to be a joke as long as Strong is here. Players have said the coaches sound like a broken record lately, so I think they have lost faith as well.

Amazing what happens when you take the same athletes and the same coaches except the head coach, and make a few small adjustments. LSU looks like a top 15 team now.

He pays the buyout for every assistant not retained by new coach? That's odd language
Also, the incentives are not properly aligned. He has way too much guaranteed money for just showing up and bonuses for simply being our coach the next year.

The incentives for winning are insignificant compared to his overall earnings. Additionally, he gets an enormous car allowance. Why? Is $5 million/year not enough to pay for a car?

That contract is the definition of fraud, waste, and abuse.

Car allowance is 600 a month-- roughly.

Why are you stopping the parade to pick up a penny?

A Non BCS bowl appearance will earn Strong $25k. That is 0.48% of his annual salary ($5.2 million). I'm sure he gets excited about that!

How about not increasing our coaches salary each year unless they win something!! That is properly aligning incentives.
