So apparently Chip posted an article on 247 saying Herman & Orlando are lieing about Orlando interviewing at SMU. A lot of folks are pissed at Chip. They are saying the article cost Texas a 4 star singee. Does anyone know who the singee was? I assume it was a front 7 defender, as Texas is likely done at DB & it wouldn't make sense for an offensive player to care about Orlando.

Never mind. Guys name was Bonitto a LB from Florida. No clue if he was actually any good or not.

The thing is Chip's article never cost us Bonitto or anyone else. Bonitto was never committed to UT, he's not committed to anyone else, and he's not signing until February. Yes there are a lot of CB's on 247 for OU on Bonitto's recruitment but that means absolutely nothing at this point (or most any point, really). UT is very much in the hunt for Bonitto, and Orlando obviously isn't going anywhere.

I don’t understand why Herman insists on playing games with the media. Multiple sources not just Chip said Orlando either did or was scheduled to interview with SMU. It’s pretty likely Orlando talked to SMU. Even if long enough just to say “not interested”. It’s not like it’s a big secret schools might be interested in Orlando. I don’t understand the need to be so addimate that it didn’t happen. Instead of being angry at the media Herman probably ought to clean up his own house because reporters are getting this info from somewhere.

He’s done the same thing with the QB situation all year. Playing this duck and dodge game every week over who the QB was gonna be. It’s all pretty much useless. I know Saban and Bellichek play these type of media games, I guess when you win 12 combined championships you can do it. When you are struggling to make Bowl games you look pretty silly.

I also seriously doubt that any report from a disgusted parent coat us a recruit. There has been plenty of public bashing of Herman publicly by papa foreman and others. I doubt a 24/7 article swayed a kid the other way.

I think the seat is getting a tad warm in Austin and Herman is letting it get to him a bit. Going to war over weather an assistant did or didn’t interview for a HC job doesnt seem like the best use of time.

Depends on how bad it becomes. The offense can’t look inept like it did this year.

He may need his players to build a consistent winner but the players on the roster now were good recruits in their own right. You should be able to build an offense that is at least passable.

There apperently was some pressure to oust beck that Herman has apperently fought off. If Beck is still an issue this time next year Herman’s seat is gonna get pretty hot.

Chip reported false information that other schools are using to try and convince recruits not to come to Texas. It's one thing if the report is true but he basically got caught in a lie. Steve Buechele threatened to sue him if he didn't retract an article where Chip basically reported a rumor as fact and put words in Steve Buecheles mouth. Chip retracting the article tells you all you need to know about who was right. The fact that he released it two days before signing day was on purpose, and it gave other schools ammo to negative recruit against Texas. Chip is a POS.

Talent wise the skill positions are pretty talented. Carter and young have both shined at times at the RB position. Lil Jordon was probably the most consistent play maker of the WR’s and Colin Johnson showed promise his freshman year. Took a step back this year. A big J.R. year wouldn’t sho k me. They have the guts to be a decent offense if the Qb and OL gets solved.

I’m not saying they have to get 50 a game but better score more than 20 next year. Defense will still probably be good but won’t be as good as it was this year. So if we’re to win games the offense has to contribute. If it doesn’t it’s going to be a very long 2018, and those of you saying Herman is a lock to get 3 years will start to think.

Hopefully it’s not an issue and we can field a decent offense I think we probably can.

I never said he wouldn’t get 3 years, but with the drcssion(apperently) to keep Beck if the offense doesn’t improve it’s gonna get mighty hot around Austin. That was my point. He is likely to get 3 years though. I don’t think it’s the lock that you so but it’s likely going to happen.

I want Texas to be good as much as anyone and I hope that Texas and Herman win 20 national titles. I get wanting to beleive till the very last breath.
Look at next years schedule though. There are only 3 games where you feel like we can chalk up as Ws.

The rest are coin flips or we are under dogs. If there isn’t drastic improvement on offense it could be a 3-9, 4-8 type year.

Chip doesn’t work for OB anymore, and he didn’t exactly depart on the best of terms with Ketch. I don’t see what the problem would be these days.
