IRVING – Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte did not want to spill the beans, but he sure gave one heck of a teaser on Wednesday.
Del Conte attended the Big 12 Spring Meetings in Irving, and I caught up with him between sessions. I asked Del Conte about Texas freshman Bru McCoy during a break.
In addition, I asked Del Conte about the successful gameday experience last season, and if Texas fans can expect any enhancements to Bevo Blvd. or around the stadium this season.
“A lot,” Del Conte said. “I was really nervous the last year because I just didn’t know what I didn’t know. You have to remember, San Jac is where all of our millionaires parked. Asking them to move was like, ‘Have you lost your mind?’ Well, let’s try it. We condensed it because we were just nervous about how it would be. We when started the concert series, we didn’t know how successful that was going to would be. Just think about we’re going to blow it out. That’s all you got to go with. We’re going to blow it out.”
After that comment, Del Conte laughed like a man who something major up his sleeve, but was not willing to say anything at the moment.
I spoke to Del Conte at length about the football program, Tom Herman, and a variety of other subjects in Las Colinas. You can look for my full interview with Del Conte in the War Room on Thursday.
