I spoke with Byron Murphy tonight. He said he's been in touch with Texas for about a month and picked up the UT offer a couple weeks ago. He kept things quiet because he wanted to surprise everybody. Murphy called Tom Herman last night to deliver the commitment news and of course went public with it today.
Murphy said he's been talking to Oscar Giles and Mark Hagen quite a bit and the relationship he has with those guys, and what he's seen from UT's defensive scheme, are two reasons he flipped from Baylor to Texas so quickly.
He says he's completely locked in and done with the recruiting process. He hasn't really talked to teammate Shemar Turner about his commitment, but said he'll definitely be trying to get Shemar to join him in Austin. I'll have some quotes from Murphy in the War Room tomorrow.
