Fort Worth Star-Telegram reporter Drew Davison joined my podcast this week to discuss the upcoming Texas-TCU on Saturday.
Here are the cliffs:
- Davison said TCU players typically are motivated to play Texas because many were not recruited by the Longhorns. It is also a game Patterson looks forward to every year. Davison said Patterson previously joked that a win against Texas gives him job security.
- Davison shied away from saying Patterson owns Texas, but could not ignore the success TCU's coach had against multiple Longhorn coaches in the past decade.
- Davison expects TCU quarterback Max Duggan will start and play all four quarters against Texas. Duggan was limited this past week.
- TCU's biggest weakness is its offensive line. There are many new faces on the offensive line.
- Davison said TCU safeties Ar'Darious Washington and Trevon Moehrig are likely very confident about facing Sam Ehlinger based on the success their defense had against the quarterback last year.
- Davison said freshman running back Zach Evans will be available to play on Saturday. Evans was exposed to Covid-19, but will travel to Austin.
