I might be asking too much to have this discussion, but what the heck. I'm not aligned with Warren's politics, but I am interested in her potential as a candidate.
I had generally written her off as just another Massachusetts wonky liberal who would not connect with voters. But I saw clips from a recent rally and was impressed with how she connected with the audience. She seems much more down to earth than Hillary Clinton and has much of the Bill Clinton "I feel your pain" vibe. And she has the ability to punch a little. This is a nice example:
Then I read an article the other day how the Trump people are frustrated that attacks aren't sticking to her. That doesn't surprise me, since her vibe is "school marm" and her scandals seem quaint in the Trump era.
I do think she presents a danger to Trump in eating at his blue collar base. Obviously, the cultural conservatives will hate her. So will the true fiscal conservatives, but they don't really have a home on either side at the moment.
There is a not insignificant part of Trump's Midwestern base who are generally economically liberal and socially moderate. They historically voted Democratic, but who believed that Hillary was essentially owned by Goldman Sachs and were receptive to Trump's appeals to the "forgotten" lower middle class. I suspect Warren has substantial appeal to that segment.
I have no idea at this point if she can beat Biden for the nomination.
