Seeing a national trend toward forbidding gatherings above a certain threshold. This includes at private residences, and in many cases applies for both indoors and outdoors. For example, in Texas, gatherings in excess of 10 people are now prohibited unless local government approval is obtained.

I struggle greatly with this. And I fully support mask mandates and other steps that have been taken, especially in public areas and businesses. But do governments have the right to impose this at private residences? What are the punishments if you violate it?
