What you missed: Despite Tre Johnson having one of the best performances in a Longhorn uniform, Texas falls to Arkansas in Fayetteville in an 81-86 defeat.

The participants: Texas Longhorns (16-11, 5-9) @ Arkansas Razorbacks (16-11,5-9)

Tale of the Tape: The Razorbacks and the Longhorns had the exact same record entering this ballgame, and with some saying a potential Tournament Bid was on the line for both of these squads, it is safe to say just how crucial this game was for both sides. Arkansas likes to play an up-tempo style of play on offense and maintain that level of aggression on defense ranking inside the Top 100 in Forced Turnover Percentage, mix that with having a knack for getting to the Free Throw line at a high rate and you have a team that is destined to make noise come March and even though Tre had a historic day, it was heartbreak coming on top once again.

Hang it in the rafters: Tre Johnson deserves all of his flowers in this game, when the going got tough the Freshman put the game on his shoulders, trying to wield Texas through the finish line in with potentially, a Tournament bid on the line. Johnson tallied 39 points, shot 7/11 from 3-Point land, and scored all of Texas’ 12 points in Overtime, just remarkable and yet another reminder to not take a talent like his for granted.

Teammates go missing: Outside of Tre Johnson putting the team on his back, Texas shot 16/43 from the field, and in OT combined for 0 Points and shot 0/3 from the field, just terrible support for the Freshman Phenom.

Keeping it a buck: These sting significantly, while some might takeaway the gritty effort and phenomenal performance from Tre, we’re too late into the season where Moral Victories exist, especially with the scenario Texas is in currently. The Longhorns fall to 5-10 in SEC play, the goal for them to feel secure come Selection Sunday was 7 or 8 Conference wins. After tonight, it’s going to be brutal to come away finishing the regular season with 3 straight wins. Texas’ next matchup is at the Moody Center on Saturday, March 1st, when they host the Georgia Bulldogs at 7PM CT.
