Since this topic comes up every couple days, and countless posters butcher their posts w/ dead links and dead pics, here's a little how to guide.

How to Post a Link

How to Insert a Link into a Post

Retype the following code, while inserting YOUR info where the code is bolded. All you need is the web address of the link. Just make sure you give your link a name, so people don't have to look at 3 rows of web address code.

NAME YOUR LINK HERE [/URL]

How to Insert a Picture or GIF into a Thread

Retype the following code, while inserting YOUR info where the code is bolded. If you don't know the address of the picture/gif you're wanting to insert, right click w/ your mouse on the picture, then click "view page info" or "properties". Then, highlight the web address listed and copy/paste that between the parentheses. If you have your own personal picture to use, then you'll need to open a photobucket, snapfish or shutterfly account and upload the pic.

How to Create Columns & Spacing w/in a Post

If you want to create columns to display stats (as an example), simply use the code. Insert before you type up your columns. You'll want to also use , b/c for whatever reason, the makes your font VERY small. Space out your columns as you want. When you post, the post will keep the spacing you created. MAKE SURE you use at the end though. That ends the code. Also, bear in mind that when you use the code, the system no longer knows to create rows. So, if you don't use the ENTER key to start a new row, everything will be on one row. That's also why you need to end the code when you're done w/ your columns, b/c anything you write afterward will create a really long sentence!

How the Heck did Iceman Write HTML Code w/o it Being Invisible???

When you write code (usually to help a lost poster figure out how to post a pic, etc), the < and > are what makes the code invisible. They activate the code. So, to post a code w/o the code being invisible (and thus doing what the code is supposed to do), you have to write the code for < and >.

& l t ; is the code for <
& g t ; is the code for >

Take the spaces out of those 4 characters/letters and you can make < and >. Then, just write whatever you want between < and >. Voila!

Seconded.

You are the man, Ice.

Ice Man - Since you're an 'ADMIN', why can't this post be perma-pinned for all of us mouth-breathers so that we don't "...butcher (our) posts w/ dead links and dead pics..." in the future?

The correct title for that pic should be, "If God isn't a Longhorn then why does Angelina have her boobs pressed against a Longhorn jersey?".

Diamond sales down? You sure are being productive on OB lately

People don't realize (heck I was on here for 3 years before I did) that there is a resources link that explains all of this. It's to the right of the "post new topic/poll" buttons.

So how do you post a link as your signature? See my failed attempt above.

Definitely agree. Thanks, Ice.

This title should be "computers for old people."

Yeah but it uses a foul picture of Brian Bozworth as a sample.

How to Write in Burnt Orange Font

Yep, that's right.......according to the geniuses that created html, the color burnt orange looks like "chocolate". There's actually a numerical code that gets you closer to burnt orange, but let's be honest.....nobody's going to remember the exact alpha-numeric code for "burnt orange".

For other colors, just use the color name in place of "chocolate" in the code. To stop the color, simply use
or after what you've written in colored font. They both do the same thing.
