A few things would have to happen, starting with a win over Ohio State and a Penn State victory over Michigan State, but I think it is conceivable that the committee would look at the game 1 loss to Utah and the wild finish loss to MSU, combine that with back to back top 10 wins, including a victory over a 12-0 Iowa, and take them over some other teams.

Auburn would need to beat Bama, Bama beats UF in SEC title game OR FSU beats UF and UF beats Bama in SEC title game.
OSU would need to beat OU.
Notre Dame loses to Stanford.

It's really not that far outside the realm of possibility. At least UM has hope and is competitive, and they're doing all of this with a new coaching staff that had very little time to recruit, and a roster that went 5-7 last year with losses to Minnesota, Maryland, and Rutgers. The rest of the games today are actually very interesting for their fans. Does anybody else remember what that is like? That is what the correct coaching hire can do for you.
