...Then somehow he has to properly navigate the 21 QB room. He MUST pick the better QB and somehow keep the other guy on campus. Sam was a very solid 3.5 year starter for us but most of his glow comes from the decade of debacle that was Gilbert/Ash/McCoy/Swoopes/Heard/Buechele.
I praise Sam and will always love him as a horn, but he was an over-performing three star QB.
In the reality that started the play after Colt's injury, Texas HS have produced 4 Heisman winning QBs'. Multiple Heisman finalists; too many AA's to count and 20% + of the starting NFL QBs. We have done NOTHING in that position. Period.
I don't know if Thompson and Card are any better than Sam. But if he picks wrong and chases the other guy away, I think his fate is sealed.
