In other scores today:

Traylor is the real deal. I forgot the name of the OC that Strong brought in to try and run a pro style offense. Then they scarp it for an up tempo offense only he doesn't run it for the Notre Dame game so he gets fired from OC and Traylor and the WR coach take over and the offense improves dramatically. They were giving him shit for just being a high school coach but he was running running better stuff and getting better results than the other guy
Your post kept me thinking about the Jeff Taylor angle. I looked up his profile to joggle my memory. You are right, he is the real deal-I had forgotten how elite he was as a high school head coach. In 15 years at Gilmer 4A he was 175-26 (0.871). That is crazy good over that long of a time span. I guess after 2 years under Strong and 3 years under Chad Morris, he figured out the college gig and decided to do it himself. I wish him well. I am going to keep him on my radar. He has only been a HC for one year at the D1 level, so I don't know if he is ready for another step up in D1, but Holgorsen's tenure may be coming to an end at UH. Traylor brought UTSA to a winning record (8-4) in just one year after several years of losing records. Perhaps after 2-3 more years, somebody in the upper ranks will hire him. I think he is only 53.

I've always liked SC. But now there is a real TX/TT/SC connection on that team.

I didn't see the game I looked it up. But there are 4 horns on the Trojan's and you might be interested in knowing how they played today.

Keaontay Ingram carried the ball 15x for 86 yards.

Malcolm Epps caught 1 pass 19 yards.

Xavion Alford played well when he was called upon. Made a tackle.

Apparently Jake Smith didn't play.

And as you know Todd Orlando and Craig Nayvar are on the staff and have been recruiting TX hard the last 2 years.

The TT connection comes from the oc and ol coach are from there.

Final score
SC 30
SJS 7

I wish those kids the best they are good players.
Don't forget Bryan Carrington, our ex ace recruiter went there as well. Does Bru McCoy count? He was in and out the whole time

aggy wasn't all that impressive against Kent freakin' State at home tonight. King was 21-33 for 292 and threw 3 picks. Calzada also threw a pick. Imagine what it will be like for their QB's when they start playing some real teams.
I was there and yes there were moments of head scratchers but it’s game 1. 1 pick was a bad throw. The other 2 were tipped by his own player that wasn’t his ball and the other batted by d linemen. He also did some very good things. We all know week one means very little. The biggest improvements are from week 1 to week 2. I do have some concerns. Need to be better stopping the run. 2 defensive linemen out hurt but still, that is a concern. Have to protect the ball no doubt. Turnovers are turnovers. Our running game is still really good. We ran a lot of vanilla and no blitz packages. A&M didn’t break out much, so I’m anticipating it should look a little different next week. I have been telling my friends I have dreaded this Colorado game more than most. It’s not because Colorado is good, but this game just scares me. They aren’t worried…I am

I didn’t get to watch Texas but it sounds like things went well. Looks like from what I could tell Card did a good job and running game still looked good. OU looked like crap but again, week 1 isn’t something to panic about. Never too high or too low on week 1

I don't think a&m will have a problem with Colorado.

We played a very bad CO team in the bowl game. If they haven’t improved from last year aggie will roll them.

Well…they shouldn’t. Call it a gut feeling. On paper we should win easily but we need to play better. For sure we didn’t show much with schemes yesterday. It’s just one of those scary games. Hope you guys are right

Do you and other aggy fans think King is the right choice over Calzada?

I heard that Bru McCoy was suspended indefinitely. I don't think he played yesterday.

You know the whole situation at SC right now is eerily similar to last year's TX team. The talent is there but ? about the hc.

How about Iowa State riding the struggle bus against something called Northern Iowa?

I know it’s just week one, but Texas clearly looked like the best team in the Big 12 today. Hopefully we improve going into Arkiesaw. That’s gonna be a tough one.
F Arkansas. F all those crude, ignorant hillbilly fans of theirs. Where white men with money behave badly especially sex. Want proof?

Barry Switzer
Bill Clinton
Billy Bob Thornton
John Daley.

Where brothers and sisters marry each other. Good ol uncle dad or good ol aunt mom. If Jamie and Cersei Lannister lived in America it would have been AR.

And never forget how they acted whenever they won.

McCoy arrested for “domestic violence”, but charges recently dropped by the DA. Still suspended by the team until further investigation.

Bru in serious trouble. He’s radioactive right now. I’d be really surprised if he came back anytime soon.

Over Calzada, yes. I think he is their best option at this point. I had moments of thinking he did some great things to being a bit nervous yesterday: He stared down receivers which will cost him more when talented DBs read and cut underneath in the future. I’ve got hesitations but again, for now he is the best we have.

BBA, I watched King in HS and was not impressed at all. He's not a FBS QB. a&m is in trouble with the two QB choices that they have. For Fisher to say that both he and Calzada will play in the NFL one day is ridiculous.

Ole miss putting it on Louisville. 41-17. Their defense is much improved this year. Wouldn’t surprise me if they make some noise in the SEC this year. Cause some of the top teams some heart burn.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't like Kiffin, but gotta hand it to him. He hired DJ Durkin at DC, which is why they are so improved. In spite of his rocky dismissal at Maryland, he has the reputation of a damn good coach.

I got told I was crazy by one of the Aggies on here when I said Ole Miss would beat Aggie this year. They looked really good last night.

I think he has a lot of grit and handles himself well. He also can run and extend plays. The upshot for us is that we put a premium on running the ball and have some guys who can buy time until he gets more polished. QB is usually a crap shoot. Calzada does have a better arm. I also believe that Card will struggle at time as a 1st year starter at some point. Its just natural. He looked good Saturday though.

Kiffin is a good coach. I think he was a victim of way too much way to soon. I mean there was no reason he should of got the Raiders job, and he wasn’t ready for USC. Can’t blame him for taking either job but just wasn’t ready for them. I think now that he’s had those expierences, been under Saban, at FAU. You are seeing his ability come through.

I think Herman is a lot the same way. If he had spent 3-4 years at Houston and then came to A big program like Texas I think the result would of been different. He just wasn’t ready.

Aggie can’t have 5 turnovers in CO they will lose. Wasn’t impressed how they came out to play Kent in the first two quarters they were flat and sloppy. Until that INT which almost didn’t happen if ONeal would’ve been booted they were still flat. Will they win in Boulder yes but they need to clean up the TOs big time. Texas played pretty clean for 2 QBs that haven’t either seen the field or barely played at Texas . Let’s see how it goes into Arkansas hoping for more clean football something that eluded us last year.

I think it was vital for you guys to have a good start in the Sark era. Mission accomplished. Now, there will be more scouting material, and more innovative schemes to slow your O down and get after your D. Adjustments going forward will now be important for you. If you handle those well, look out.

a&m has a test this weekend that they should come out of with a W at Colorado. If I'm an a&m fan, I'd be pretty concerned about the QB position. At this point, Calzada, who has the stronger arm, is pretty much an unknown, but was more highly regarded than King. King, who has better wheels, but no near as strong of an arm as Calzada, was kind of shaky last Saturday. IMO QB is not a strong point for the aggs. I'm curious what the consensus is about the two QB's amongst a&m fans.
