Cliff-notes:
Texas picked up its third commitment for the 2019 recruiting class, as Cuero athlete Jordan Whittington announced his decision on Saturday afternoon.

Rankings: The 6-1, 204-pound Whittington is currently rated the No.18 overall prospect in the country in the latest Rivals100 and the No.4 overall prospect in Texas. In the latest update of the 2019 LSR Top 100, Whittington is ranked as the No.5 overall prospect in the state.

Key Offers: Texas A&M, Florida, UCLA, LSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Stanford and TCU.

Evaluation: He's the BJ Foster of the 2019 recruiting class in the state of Texas. An explosive athlete that can change a game on either side of the ball, Whittington is just a guy that you want on the field at all times because he's just so damn good, no matter how he's used. A more natural receiving than Foster (if using that comparison), Whittington has a skill set that allows him to make an impact in a lot of different ways. You can throw him the ball on a screen or hitch and he has the type of suddenness and strength to give defenses real concern, while he's also a player that can do damage in the vertical passing game because of his elite-level ball skills and strength as an athlete. As a defensive back, Whittington brings a physical presence to the field and a ton of instinctive playmaking to the table. Honestly, the player he reminds me of is former Longhorns star Michael Griffin. That's the type of athlete and profile as a player we're talking about.

After a standout performance at the Future 50 Camp in January, Chad Simmons of Rivals said: "He was very fluid with his routes, he was very quick in and out of cuts and he was sneaky fast. He got open off the line of scrimmage and he showed although he is listed as an athlete, he could be an elite receiver."

Why it matters:
Let us count the ways...

Top 5 talent in the state? Check.
A foundation piece that will kick-start some momentum? Check.
A head to head win over Jimbo Fisher at a school where you have limited historical success? Check.

We're talking about a kid that might be the top-rated prospect in this class 10 months from now. His importance to this class can't be overstated.

Enjoy: Enjoy these highlights of Whittington from his junior season.
