National Signing Day begins in less than 24 hours. We're nearly at the end of the race, and then we can immediately turn our attention towards the 2018 class.

Texas sits at 16 commitments after the Monday addition of OL Samuel Cosmi. Realistically, the Longhorns appear to be in on three more prospects (maybe ... more on that in a second) who are expected announce their decisions on Wednesday.

How I'm feeling one day before NSD:

LB K'Lavon Chaisson - The hardest remaining target to predict, the information on Chaisson has been all over the place. On Monday, one LSU source said LSU feels good, a North Shore source said it's a toss-up and a third source who knows Chaisson said emphatically the choice will be Texas. A lot of times on these, you get your best information from other prospects, and the vibe I continue to hear from that front is that Texas will win out. In fact, one player told me last night to feel very, very confident in my pick, which has always been Texas. I'm sticking with my prediction that Chaisson picks the Longhorns, but will it surprise anyone if he's trolling people, including his peers?

The pick: Texas
Confidence level: Moderate

WR Jordan Pouncey - The Winter Park (FL) product visited Tennessee last weekend and this one seems to be down to Texas, Miami and the Vols, although it seems like the Vols are playing catch-up. Last week, word began trickling out behind the scenes that Texas looked very, very good in this one. Pouncey loved his UT visit, and some of his peers have been saying behind the scenes that he's coming to Texas. On Tuesday morning, a dialed in Miami source said he feels the choice will be the Longhorns.

The pick: Texas
Confidence level: High

OL Stephan Zabie - The Westlake OL never talks so it's hard to get a clear read on this one. He listed a top three of Texas, Ole Miss and UCLA and will decide around 7 a.m. on Wednesday. Zabie took a midweek visit to Texas last week and then visited Ole Miss over the weekend. In talking with some people who cover Ole Miss, they were given no indication of what Zabie is thinking and he left without talking to any media. This one just makes sense for Texas with him living in Austin and having a teammate in Sam Ehlinger already on campus. He's such a wildcard that nothing would be a complete shock, but this is one Texas should be able to close out on NSD.

The pick: Texas
Confidence level: Moderately high

In case you missed it last night, defensive end Ryan Johnson pulled a bit of a surprise by picking Stanford over Auburn on Monday night. Johnson visited UT last weekend but Auburn was believed to be the strong favorite.

Random last-minute recruiting rumor ... I'm hearing a player Texas has been recruiting for a while has shown up at school in UT gear a couple times over the past couple weeks. My gut tells me there's not much to based on my previous conversations with this prospect, but I've got a couple feelers out just in case.

******

With all that out of the way, let's go ahead and have a chat in this thread. Post your questions on recruiting, team stuff, hoops, baseball ... anything goes ... and we'll get to them throughout the day.
