So Dabo going with the thing that looks like Cher banged a Skeksis. Bryant transferring.

Personally I'd love it if by some miracle we could get him, but since that ain't happening, where does he end up?

Why you think we can't get him? He ain't going to Bama, Ohio St, Auburn, LSU, or Notre Dame. Why are we off the list?

I would love for them to take a run at either Hurts or Bryant for next year. I am fairly certain that Shane will do the Grad transfer thing and if that happens we will be with unproven backups next year. But guys with 1 year left are going to want a guarantee to play not a guarantee to compete for a starting spot. What top 25 teams have a QB that is going to leave after this year but still have a bunch of returning talent next year. I have a 1 year old, 3 year old and 11 year old so I don't have much time to follow non Texas teams.

I don't know, maybe just not getting my hopes up? Did we even recruit him, or maybe did Tom recruit him? I'm thinking he'd probably go to somebody that he had a good recruiting relationship with.

One of the talking heads on ESPN mentioned maybe Ohio State if their QB goes pro, but I dunno. Seems to me Bryant would have to know ahead of time that he is. Anyway besides Ohio State, I believe VT, Florida, and North Carolina offered him. VT and North Carolina are close to home. That's about all the speculation I got.

Btw.... great Dark Crystal reference. Those vulture looking dudes and their weird sound freaked me out as a kid.

Lol. Yeah they gave me nightmares. I think that's why that name still sticks in my mind.

Btw @speedstrength I'd love to get either one of those guys, and I know we'd have a shot at Hurts. Starting to look like he may stick it out, though. He at least doesn't seem to be worried about losing a year of eligibility.

Also, I don't think either one would need any quarantee from Herman. Both shouldn't have any doubt they could beat out Sam.

really....sounds like a perfect fit at OU...Murray is gone after this year. IDK who is the next man up,

Depends how Sam does the rest of the year.

Eh, I just can't see it. He's got a long way to go to be considered anywhere near Bryant's level. He's not even as good a passer as Bryant, and that's supposed to be Bryant's weakness. He sure as hell is nowhere near the runner.

MM, can we get a thumbs down button installed specifically for posts like this?

oldhorn wtf? He's a perfect fit for Texas. He's exactly Tom Herman's type of QB, and we STILL don't have a QB. C'mon man, ya killin' me. Lol

Give me this kids gmail, home address, and a duffel bag full of cash, and by the time I'm through I guarantee you he'll be coming to Austin ☺

Bryant is better than Hurts for sure, but neither is a huge game changer. They are both pretty good playing with superior talent. Bryant is certainly above average, not so sure Hurts is anything more than a game mananger.

Arkansas is going to be a dark horse. Chad Morris was the one who recruited him to Clemson. Morris is now at Arkansas without a QB who can run his system at the level that it needs to be run at.

Am I the only that things this ends up backfiring on Clemson? The dude is 16-2 and took you the CFP last year. The dude behind him doesn't have numbers that are THAT much better to warrant benching the guy who has done absolutely everything you have asked him to do and gotten you to the top. I just don't get it

Dabo knows Bryant can not beat Alabama. He is betting his freshman will improve and win against an incredibly bad ACC. He is swinging for the fences, which makes sense if you look at his schedule and how talented his team is. Laugh at the Lawrence kid's hair all you want, but he is a crazy talent. Both his arm and legs, big boy can run like a deer.

Agree. It definitely could backfire. Just because you lost to Bama, doesn't mean it's your QBs fault, and some freshman would do any better. You suck it up make yourselves better as a team.

Now you've gone and pissed off ypur star QB and he's gone, leaving you screwed royally if this freshman gets hurt. You stick with the guy who's led you to a NC game, and you still have a backup QB.

I'm sure Bama is quaking in their boots now at the thought of a possible meeting with a freshman led Clemson team.

not a chance in hell that he would bring bryant in here to compete with Sam. hes all but said that sam was the guy going forward.

Yeah, of the QBs he has now. That has nothing to do with if a NC caliber QB becomes available. He would be nuts to Bryant down.

Damn Metcalf....I was just thinking that if I was that kid, OU might be worth a look. I agree he would be better for us than Sam, running and passing, but by next year I am optomistic that Rising might be able to displace Sam.If Sam improves enough to hold him off, I am ok with that as well.

I just like the idea of building with young guys as the foundation and getting better as they do.....of course having a guy that could actually deliver the football where needed is damned tempting to me.

I would like to see Rising or Thompson rise up too, but we have no idea how they will work out. I have more faith in Roschon, but it would be nice to have the luxury of redshirting him. Bryant is battle tested and proven. We need that yesterday. He would give the young guys more time to grow.

I don’t think Texas or OU should pursue him. You might lose more than you gain. Joe Burrow is doing great at LSU, but 2 guys transferred. He may be a two year player. I’m not sure about it.

He can go anywhere he wants bc he has to sit a year. He'll probably go somewhere in ACC and try to beat clemson

On College Sports radio, they were throwing around theories yesterday and it does make some sense. Before the play off, an athletic, Jalen Hurts type could win a one time championship game, but now these teams have to win three (conference championship, semis, and finals). The theory is that the passer must be an accurate distributor of the football to beat three good to great teams. They mentioned, Tua, Fromm, and McSorley as examples, as well as Lawrence. I thought it was an interesting conversation.

He doesn't have to sit a year, I believe he is graduating so he is eligible immediately next year.
He played in four games this year though right? Doesn't he have to sit? Or does new redshirt rule come into play here?

He is already a graduate student. I believe he can withdraw from Clemson today should he so choose and go where ever he likes.
