Imagine the optics on Thanksgiving night if the team is 6-5 and playing a team that nobody wants to watch. Imaguine if the weather is bad.
This is a fair point. I'm not a big 12 basher. But imagine if Kansas and Kansas St were replaced by Nebraska and Mizzou on this year's schedule? Or Aggy and Colorado? I'm pretty sure that would bump up interest in season tickets.

My impression was that they took him on a flyer, because of the desperate need at the position and to feed into the excitement of Strong making inroads into Florida. I doubt the staff ever considered it likely he would qualify. Maybe in a year or two, a kid like that doesn't even get an offer.
Patterson has no idea how far he is a falling behind with a mediocre team even when he plays USC home and home. He would not know a regional rivalry game if it bit him in the butt. Unless we return to the 2005-2009 run, we will fall far behind the annual A&M-LSU game in Houston. Expanding the "national brand" doesn't contend with beating A&M or LSU every year for bragging rights and recruits.

totally agree. Not as famous as some of his other songs, but that's classic country.
1) The 2014 Texas Football team was one of the worst Longhorn teams I have ever seen. What was Patterson thinking in raising ticket prices? That's what happens when hubris overtakes common sense... your season ticket sales plummet. Is anyone really surprised? The Athletic Department is so consumed with ticket resales that they have outpriced the market...
1a) That being said, I'm all in on the Charlie Strong rebuild program. The payoff starts in Year 3 IMHO.
2) Ketch, Don't complain about Liverpool when every soccer fan on this board let you know about the mistake in your team choice. Your Liverpool choice seems a lot like UT on the fence of whether or not to stay with Mack or let him go a few seasons ago...

How do the YTD numbers in season tickets compare to any of the previous years? If they are lower by a large margin, then how do they expect to close the deal on another 20K tickets to show improvement?
Any comparison at any other schools when it comes to "new coach bump?" In other words, what have other schools been able to do when they change coaches?

If Strong is the coach we think he is, he will get the program to a New Years Eve/Day bowl game by the end of year 3 especially when one considers there are 12 bids to be handed out. If he can't that's a red flag IMO. If there were 12 bids back when Mack started, we would've been to BCS bowls in 2000-2003.
