I saw a graphic that LSU put out today about the NFL schedule for this week and all of the players on their respective teams and it got me thinking about the Longhorns in the Pros.
Currently we rank 17th, with 24 players on the 53 man roster (we have 28 if you could IR,PUP).
Here is the breakdown by position:
DB: 6 (Elliott, Diggs, A. Phillips, Hill. Thomas, Vaccaro)
DL: 5 (Acho, Ridgeway, Brown, Okafor, Ford)
LB: 4 (Jefferson, D. Johnson, Hicks, Orakpo)
RB: 4 (Whitaker, Foreman, Brown, Warren) * 3 of these are on IR/PUP
K/P: 3 (Dawson, Tucker, Dickson)
OL: 2 (Williams, Hopkins)
WR: 2 (Goodwin, M. Johnson)
QB: 1 (McCoy)
TE: 1 (Swaim)

I was looking at the title of "DBU" and based on current rosters, We are 5th out of 5 when it comes to school who claim "DBU".

LSU & Florida have 11 DB's on current rosters
Alabama & FSU have 9 DB's on current rosters
Texas has 6 DB's on current rosters

Because I was bored, I did some statistical analysis based on stats from ESPN. I used this as my point system:
Games Played: 1 Point
Tackles: 2 Points
Sacks: 3 Points
INT: 4 Points
Pro Bowl: 5 Points
2nd Team All Pro: 7 Points
1st Team All Pro: 10 Points

Based on that, here is how those 5 university rank:
Florida: 437 games played, 1408 tackles, 13.5 sacks, 66 INT's, 5 Pro Bowls, 2 2nd Team All Pros for 3596.5 point
Alabama: 348 games played, 1247 tackles, 11.5 sacks, 48 INT's, 3 Pro Bowls, 1 1st Team All Pro, 1 2nd Team All Pro for 3100.5 points
LSU: 349 games played, 1034 tackles, 9 sacks, 49 INT's, 8 Pro Bowls, 4 1st Team All Pros for 2720 points
Florida State: 387 games played, 1019 tackles, 7 Sacks, 43 INT's, 3 Pro Bowls, 2 1st Team All Pros for 2653 points
Texas: 279 games played, 949 tackles, 8.5 sacks 43 INT's, 6 Pro Bowls, 3 1st Team All Pros, 2 2nd Team All Pros (All of the pro bowls and All Pros are from Earl) for 2448.5 points.

Individually the points shook out like so:
Reggie Nelson - Florida: 1541.5 Points
Earl Thomas - Texas: 1204 Points
Kareem Jackson - Alabama: 988 Points
Patrick Peterson - LSU: 881 Points
Joe Haden - Florida: 860 Points
Tyrann Mathieu - LSU: 714 Points
Kenny Vaccaro - Texas: 701.5 Points

Kind of surprised, outside of Earl & Kenny V, we have virtually no NFL production in the league right now.

Wow I'm surprised Phil's still playing. This is his 20th year. Is he still kicking for the Cardinals?

In Seattle Earl Thomas has been a starter since his rookie season. Michael Dickson was a 6th round pick and he's already the starting punter. The thing i liked most about this year's rookies from Texas was Poona Ford making the Seahawks as a free agent. Counting Poona. There is some serious Texas representation in Seattle. I think we sent 5 rookies to the NFL this year.

In 2013 Texas was tied for second with most players I the NFL. Let's hope we get back to where we used to be.

I watched Phil Dawson kick a 52 yard Fg at Lake Highlands to knock Nacogdoches out of the playoffs. I was 11 so yes...you’re old.
Funny man.

Hey funny man! Don't ever fall asleep around me, funny man.

Take a peek at Longhorn DB's since '75 in the NFL.
