Fitting that on Colt’s retirement from the NFL today that we give mad props to the class Mack signed in 2005. In real time that class in February was bitched about more by this board for who didn’t sign rather than celebrated for who did.
We all know that Mack had a highly celebrated 10 year run of classes to start his Texas tenure. But honestly, if you are going by average star rating , class rank and size, it’s hard to argue ‘05 class wasn’t the runt of that litter on respective signing day.
We all know the success we had in ‘08 and ‘09 due in large part because of the ‘05 class. But not sure people really grasp the hit rate that class has. It was only a 14 person class but 6 of them ended up getting drafted and playing in the NFL. Far and away the best “per capita” rate amongst Mack’s classes.
