Is something wrong with him? Is he sick or hurt? He was as effective as a stick of wood out there. I didnt see one double team on him all game. Why would there be He never was able to get off of any block. When I watched the QB run right past him untouched I became concerned for his health. If this game was any indication, he wont be drafted at all, much less 1st round.

He is not even our best defensive player. Since wheeler started playing Malik has been ineffective.

I have noticed this as well. His giveashitter appears to be broken. He's an outstanding athlete and a great tackler but can't get off of blocks and his effort level seems way down.

Maybe he is just overrated. Happens all the time. Who knows,

His effort level has clearly dropped. He is a great talent but really struggles in this defense.

Who on that defense requires a double team? No one on the D-line does. He is the guy OCs are scared of so he gets a lot of attention. The D-Line isn't doing him any favors and there are times when he is out of position by scheme or alignment. Why do you think Wheeler is making all the tackles? He has an easier task of getting to the guy with the ball.

Imagine being 20 years old and you're getting crapped on weekly by opponents.

It's tough to keep your chin up when the defense you're supposed to be the leader of is the laughing stock of college football.

Even the best of us lose heart at times.

Malik better get his shit together because he's costing this team and he's costing himself a lot of money. Right now he's an undrafted free agent based on his play. Some guys read too many press clippings and forget what it took to get to the top. One thing I like about Shane is all the coaches talk about is his time in the film room. We need more guys with the 2nd level of dedication.

Could it be your D-Line was much better last year making him look really good? Now that your D-Line and overall defense are having a great deal of difficulty, so is he.

Maybe Charlie forget to coach him up this year.

4 dlinemen help to take the pressure off lbs. 3 make it harder. Malik needs to be on the edge in a 4-3.
This too. A scheme with only 3 defensive linemen will not stop the run and will have the offensive linemen blocking our linebackers.

Malik is playing out of position. His talents are best suited for him being positioned as an outside linebacker. He could probably be another Lawerence Taylor or a Hollywood Henderson playing on the outside. Hopefully the next coach will recognize this.

What did he do last year besides hype? Did he have double digit sacks or over 120 or more tackles? He played for a bad defense and was a 5 star kid that was hyped.
If you were a horn fan you would know what he did last year on defense.....but your not.

OK...I am sick of seeing this. I agree he would be better suited for the outside, but that does not mean that playing in the middle makes him the invisible man. A QB went close enough by him to almost rub jerseys yesterday and Malik did not even wave at him. He wasnt blocked he simply was not motivated.

here, maybe this will refresh your memory Aggie...

A second-year linebacker who played in 17 games, starting 15 ... earned freshman All-America honors … also named honorable mention All-Big 12 and Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year … was named a Preseason All-American by Sporting News (first team) and Sports Illustrated (second team) ... was also named Preseason All-Big 12 ... also to the Bednarik Award, Bronco Nagurski Trophy, Butkus Award and Walter Camp Award preseason watch lists ... one of the most highly-regarded players in the nation coming out of high school … enrolled in January 2015 … rated No. 4 player (No. 1 OLB) nationally and No. 1 in Texas by Scout as a senior … also a 2014 All-America choice

He has sucked this year and it's not because of double teams. Why would they waste two on what one can do fairly easy.

Tap the freaking brakes. If Malik reminds you of LT, you probably never saw LT play. I think Malik should play on the outside as well. But LT is on another planet. He could stay up all night smoking crack, and still was an absolute wild dog on the field.

I'm telling you, in the OSU game, Milik took on a blocker and and a Runningback at the same time and he came up with a messed up shoulder. Since that play, he hasn't played very well, I m telling you the guy is playing injured. Yes he is still missing reads, but he used to be able to make up for his poor reads with incredible athleticism, now he just looks normal.

I'm not arguing with you on this point.

No stats given for play on the field, just a bunch of hype. He is naturally and OLB/pass rusher, but UT has Hager and Roach. Malik and Hager should be OLBs in a 3-4, unless Hager plays the inside good, which they had him play last year. UT coaching is a soup sandwich!!!

I think most of us would like to have Malik on the outside, and I have no idea why we would put him on the inside.

The biggest issue I have is he and rest of our linebackers have no idea what is going on, and it shows with all their misreads. That again goes back to coaching.
