— Receiver Doug Baldwin sat out Sunday for what may simply be veteran’s rest day, which happened during minicamp. This time of year, it’s also not uncommon for players to be held out for minor, nagging injuries, and I suspect that may be the case here. With or without Baldwin, the receiving corps doesn’t seem to lack for speed, that’s for sure. Marcus Johnson, acquired in the Bennett trade this offseason, has had a strong couple of days. Touted as a speedster coming out of Texas in 2016, the 6-foot Johnson looks explosive at the line of scrimmage and managed to snag a few impressive catches from Wilson on Days 2 and 3, including a back-shoulder TD reception on Sunday.
“He makes a lot of plays,” Wilson said after Day 2. “Marcus Johnson looks really good so far. He had a great day today. The first day he didn’t get that many balls just because the way the practice was or whatever, he got some. Today he showed up in a big, big way, made some crucial plays down the field. He’s so fast, so aggressive to the football, championship player, too, and that matters.”
