New ranking...

How does everyone feel about being ranked this week? I personally would rather not be. Hear me out.

Yes we beat usc and tcu, two top 25 teams.

BUT , we still lost to Maryland and barely beat Tulsa.

I wanted to stay unranked until after the Texas blowu game. IF we win that game then I'm fine with being ranked and ranked even higher than 18th..

Maybe it's the past 8 years scaring me but being ranked has lately followed with a immediate loss and de rank.

I don't care for the dog and pony show and this includes the biased ranking system. Give me 4 conferences of 16 teams. Take the Champions for a 4 team playoff or co-Champs for an 8 team playoff. I don't think rankings effect games as much as the place standing of each team in each conference.

I think we are playing like a #15-#20 team right now. Not sure if we will keep that up, but we look different than we've looked in several years.

Maryland lost to Temple. Temple lost to Buffalo. Not the NFL buffalo.... the buffalo, buffalo. One of the worst teams historically in college football. I know that's a tangential comparison.... but the optics still aren't good. Have we played our last two games like a top 25 team? I'd say yes.

Now it must be replicated. We've played four very good quarters this season. But they've all been in different games. If we could string those four quarters together consecutively in the same game, we'd be a very, very dangerous team. Very dangerous.

there is nothing in fb more overrated than comparitive scores. The second most overrated thing in fb is good as your last game.

The real Texas Longhorns, not the Texas Longhorns of the first two games, are starting to emerge.

And why do people on here have such hard time understanding that the Horns were looking ahead to the SC game. And that is the only reason why the Tulsa game was close.

I don’t care if we’re ranked I just want wins. If Tom has them truly focused that ranking doesn’t mean anything and they just keep trucking. I’m sure the media wants us ranked so the Cotton Bowl has two ranked teams going head to head. Makes for better tv.

Maryland isn't terrible. They beat a decent Minnesota team 42-13. Most teams flounder and play poor games every once in a while. Maybe Temple was Maryland's. Maybe Maryland was ours. We can't truly understand what happened off-season for that Maryland team and how it effected their opening, home game. We don't have to play Maryland again which is great. If our team keeps playing and learning and growing, we have an opportunity next year to blaze our own trail.

Buffalo is 4-0...not very many teams are 4-0


Maryland is 3-1
Tulsa is 1-3
USC is 2-2
TCU is 2-2

our opponents are .500. Hard to tell if any of them will be worth a spit. However, I think Maryland, USC and TCU will all be in a bowl game. I think they'll have 7, 8, 9 wins depending on who stays healthy...but I guarantee you one of those teams will win 9 games, one will win 8 and one will win 7.

Tulsa sucks something awful and will probably finish 3-9

BUT? Really? We were punished for losing the Maryland game by falling out of the top 25, but have rebounded nicely, with 3 straight wins, and are back in the poll again. Texas would be in the top ten if it weren't for that loss. And Texas did not barely beat Tulsa. Who's side are you on? The score isn't a true reflection of the game. Texas built up a big lead and then went to sleep.

And why did you give Oklahoma a free pass? They are the ones who almost lost....to Army at home. The game went into overtime

We should destroy Maryland...and even worse we should have beat Tulsa BAD

This team gets no passes. The past 8 years have been "passes." We were told this team was ready for Maryland. FREAKING MARYLAND. Yes we have gotten better and have had a good 3 game streak. But no excuse for that loss.
