You know the Big XII has the fewest NFL players among the P5 conferences. I don't see any changes in this year's draft. Last year the Big XII didn't produce a #1 draft pick and will we have one this year? Probably not.

The one player who has a chance to get his name called tonight is Tyquan Thornton from Baylor. He came through the last 3 years when his team needed him most. And he had the fastest 40 yards time among receivers and this is important when you're a receiver. But I can't think of anyone else I hope I'm wrong. Unless it's Cameron Dicker I don't think anyone else on our team get drafted.

Any thoughts?

I love watching the draft. Love the intrigue, drama, trades, reaches, strategy, controversy, etc. It's crazy-the NFL draft outdraws MLB and NBA PLAYOFF games, TV rating-wise. Yes, playoff games!

I’ve said for years you wanna know why Texas has struggled the last decade watch the NFL draft. That tide is going to start turning next year though. Bijan will be an early pick in 2023, Xavier worthy and Quinn Ewers potentially first round picks in 2024, as that tide begins to turn so should they results on the field.

Cowboys took Tyler Smith OT from Tulsa. Not an impressive #1 pick by the Cowboys. They should have taken either Tyler Linderbaum C from Iowa or Jermaine Johnson DE from Florida State.

But how many times have we said that the last few years?

None. Because honestly we haven’t had that kind of talent. Worthy, Bijian, Quinn, etc are special talents. Imo Texas hasn’t had special talents here in some time, and you have to accumulate those types of talents if you want to win at a high level

And just like later year the Big XII fails to produce a #1 draft choice. And the Texas Longhorns have now gone 8 years without a number one draft choice. Darrell Royal must be turning over in his grave.

As you some of you guys know the Ravens are my favorite team. They traded Hollywood Brown to AZ. Now Hollywood will be back with his pal Kyler. You know they're perfect for each other. They're conceited, and entitled. But this could be good news for TX fans. Devin Duvernay could now move up as the #2 maybe even #1 receiver on the Ravens. He's already made All Pro. And he's gotta hands like snowshoes just like he did at TX. Unlike Hollywood he has a chip on his shoulder. They said he didn't have a complete route tree and couldn't block. But Devin is a proud man he's worked his butt off to make his critics eat their words. Hollywood couldn't be bothered with things like that. And they talk about Hollywood being their fastest receiver but he's not Devin is he has a better 40 yard time.

Hey MM didn't the Ravens draft Tyler Linderbaum before the Cowboys pick?

No we hard a lot of special talents who weren't developed like they should have been. Quandre Diggs, Caden Sterns, Devin and so many more.

Yeah. When I say special talents I’m talking about guys where the minute they show up they are better than everyone and you know they are 3 year players. Xavier, Bijan, quinn(potentially) kelvin Banks(potentially) are that type of player. I’m not sure we’ve had that type of player in a few years.

No, the Cowboys passed on Linderbaum and the Ravens took him with the next pick. Ugh!

Smith is a sneaky good pick in my opinion. He has tons of upside and was one of the youngest guys in the draft. He's one of the best run blocking o lineman in this years draft. He needs to work on his technique. He could easily turn into the best lineman taken in this years draft though if he get the proper coaching.

Duvernay was an all pro as a return specialist, not a WR.

Maybe. The knock on him is he committed lots of penalties in college. That's a big reason why Connor Williams and La'el Collins are no longer on the team. Tyron Smith also commits a lot of penalties and is always injured. No doubt that OL is the biggest priority for Dallas in the draft, but IMO Linderbaum was the pick and they inexplicably passed on him. Linderbaum will be a 10-12 year starter at center in the NFL. Baltimore got a helluva player. Linderbaum is much more polished. Smith is a project who needs a lot of coaching.

His biggest issue was speedy edge guys. Playing inside at G where he will be he won't have to deal with those speedy guys. Biadaz improved as the season progressed last year. The problem was Connor Williams. Smith is an instant upgrade at guard over Connor. If there's one thing the Cowboys do right that's evaluate offensive lineman.

Agree that Smith is an upgrade over Williams. However, I think that there was a good chance that he would have been available by the time that the Cowboys picked in the second round. I'm not understanding why they passed on Linderbaum. He was pretty much a can't miss, home run center.

As a lifelong Cowboys fan, it's so damn frustrating to see the uninspired and unprepared team that Dallas puts on the field year after year. All JJ cares about is making money. Winning is a very distant second behind JJ lining his pockets.

Tennessee called to trade up to 24 to take Smith is what they said. So he wouldn't have been there. It is frustrating myself being a Cowboys fan but if there's one thing they have done well the last decade that's draft well. This kind of reminds me of the Travis Frederick pick from back in 2013. I remember a lot of people hated that pick as well. It turned out will for them though.

True that but he was rarely on the field as a receiver. He hasn't dropped one catchable ball since he's been in the NFL. Removing Hollywood Brown should give him his chance to show what he can do as a receiver.

The 2nd day of the draft has been completed. No Big XII players in the first round Tonight there were 6. Baylor sent the most to the NFL tonight with 3 in the second round. Now I understand why they were the best team in the Big XII last year.
