I have concerns about the flow of the passing offense if the offensive line cannot play better against stunts and twists than it did against Tech. Texas pulls it out, but not running away.

Honestly, who the hell knows what to expect this weekend? TCU would appear to be a prime opponent for the Longhorns because of questions about the quality of its offense, but for years Texas has served as the cure for programs struggling on offense. After what we witnessed a week ago, I can't tell you that TCU won't have an offensive revolution against the Longhorns. This has the makings of an ugly game if the Longhorns struggle to block the TCU defensive line, but something tells me that Texas has a bit of a bounceback game. In Sam, I trust.

If Texas played like it did this past Saturday, Gary Patterson and TCU won’t let it off the hook. But I don’t think Texas will play that poorly back-to-back weeks. Texas Tech has to serve as a wake-up call. Fortunately for Tom Herman, the call didn’t result in another 1-1 start. It’s easier to learn and correct after wins than losses.

The Longhorns will play harder, more confidently, more physically and will figure out some way to get enough hits on Max Duggan and put him into enough passing-down situations. And given the confidence and calmness Sam Ehlinger played with to win at Lubbock, I’m not betting against him, especially with help from a running game this weekend.

Logic says I should pick TCU to defeat Texas. TCU coach Gary Patterson has defeated Texas in six of the past eight years. Patterson's team was bad last season, but still found a way to defeat Texas. I am not sure if Texas has fixed its tackling issues in less than a week. Patterson is good enough to exploit the weaknesses on Texas' offensive line. TCU quarterback Max Duggan will start on Saturday. This is a Patterson special.

However, I am not going to bet against Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger. TCU intercepted Ehlinger four times last year, but I do not anticipate a repeat performance. Ehlinger is good enough to carry this team on his back, and he did that against Texas Tech last weekend.

I will not be shocked if TCU finds a way to win, but I will hesitantly go with Texas.

I’m not sure what to make of this Texas team after two weeks. I thought last week’s game against Tech would be a good indicator of how the Longhorns would look for the rest of the season, but Texas fans need to hope that isn’t the case.

On paper, this is a matchup Texas should win. Iowa State was able to run the ball at will and I’ll take the home team with the quarterback advantage in this one, even with Gary Patterson having UT’s number in recent years.
