@clob94

I found this article very interesting since they are currently NC’s. After reading the article, I wonder if it’s entirely possible to have not knowingly ingested a PED at a big time program (Lawrence). I’m no dr and I haven’t been a member of a big time football program but is this common place in this day and age? If 15% of the program was positive out of 119 players on roster, then almost 18 players tested positive. Or am I reading too much into it... I fully admit my ignorance on the matter.

Man that's a tough question. Do guys do roids in college? Of course. Is it as bad as it was in the 1980s? No. Not even close.

Roids back in the 80s and 90s were inexpensive. If you loaded up in your truck and took a weekend in Laredo, buying roids and getting them across the border was no difficult task. How do I know this? Because every single time I went to Mexico from about the age of 15 until the last time I went, I carried a gun in my pocket. Every single time.

I had a little .380 auto pocket gun that always made it over there and back with zero problem. Since I was asthmatic, I would always buy a couple of inhalers as my diversion. Walk u to the border agents in Mexico, show them your trinkets you bought and then show them your asthma inhalers and boom, slide right on by with a loaded gun in your pocket. I could have just as easily had roids in my pocket. And I know guys that did this----- at both aggy and UT.

Roids now are so easy to detect that the only ones that perhaps would NOT be detected by NCAA testing are designer and cost a freaking fortune--- just ask Barry Bonds. College kids can't afford that.

As far as what this dude tested positive for, I don't believe there are any real benefits using it. Perhaps he was mislead by a dumbass teammate or family member-- but as far as I know, it does him no good. Now if e was using it as a masking agent, to hide the roids he'd been doing, then that's a different story. But as far as I can tell, it's not even a masking agent.

Look--- here's the long and short of it:

Roids and HGH are the ONLY substances that can TRULY help your performance. I take HGH injections every night and have for years. But that shot is waaaaaaaay too expensive for college kids to afford. Mine is prescribed by and endocrinologist and I have to get blood taken every quarter to monitor it. Roids though should still be relatively cheap in Mexico, but this guy lives 2000 miles from Mexico and didn't test positive for roids.

My best guess: some snake oil salesman convinced these kids that his "drug" would help them and they bought into it.

I’ve done my fair share of Roids in my playing days myself. I had never heard of this ostarine until this story came out. Everything I’ve read about the stuff is that it is junk and doesn’t do anything. Now thanks to my dumb young self juicing up as a youngster I am on weekly testosterone injections just to maintain normal levels. Not to mention all the injuries I’ve been through thanks in part to the heavy lifting. I wish I could educate these kids and tell them it’s not worth it. It’s gonna cause them more problems later down the road than it’s worth.

Thanks clob for the insight on the matter. I played football in high school but didn’t make it to the D1 level, maybe I should’ve given myself a ‘boost’ to increase my odds. Haha! But after yours and hornsfan responses maybe I was better off! Anyway, I suppose every program might have something...

Shoot, I played small school ball less than 10 years ago and I would say about 90% of our team was using roids and/or HGH.

Was talking about the NFL, bald faced liar. And you know it. Sorry my criticisms of your cheating hero Brady got you all butthurt.
So...it's permissible and excusable in the NFL under the guise of "evening the playing field" but not otherwise? Makes perfect sense.

I didn't say it was permissable, bald faced liar. I said everyone did it. Thus it's a level playing field. Again, sorry I hastened your menstrual cycle pointing out Tom Brady as well as Bill Belichick are proven cheaters.

BTW, bandwagon bell, who are your other teams besides the Patriots? Golden State? Yankees? Pitiful.

Yes the Pats have had success. They also have low character. We know the latter never enters your mind, only the former.

Would low character also include insulting everyone who you disagree with? Asking for a friend.

I have a feeling your disdain for Brady and Belichick have more to do with their political beliefs than some silly allegations.

Nope. Just don't like cheaters. Like Patriots. And $ooners. And their low character apologists. Not surprising you think this is weird and can't grasp this concept.

Silly allegations eh? Like when the NFL imposed maximum fines on Belichick for spygate of $500K and a 1st round pick from the team? And why did Brady destroy his cel phone again?

I have a friend who played middle linebacker for Harvard in the 70s. He had all city in LA. He had friends who played for USC. He said both teams had steroids at the training table, but Harvard didn't tell you to take them.

Fair questions. I too would like the NFL to explain why filming signals from a slightly different angle than the ones you would get from the authorized locations would cause such a huge advantage as to warrant such a massive penalty.

And absolutely it looks bad for Brady to destroy his phone. He said it was because he bought a new one and always destroys his old phones. A sports agent (not his) came to his defense saying he advises all his clients to do the same after someone used the agent's old phone to extort him with the threat of releasing all his clients contact info. But certainly it was bad optics to destroy the phone at that time.

But do you completely dismiss all the scientists that came out afterwards saying the Deflategate investigation was terribly done and the Ideal Gas Law easily explains the air pressure loss?

Neither being correct in this case. Why did you delete the part where you called him a POS?
A) Yeah both are correct actually. He dishonestly conflated college and NFL football to my argument and dishonestly claimed I said it was permissible. Neither was true. Maybe you and he really aren't smart enough to follow a simple line of reasoning.

B) Not talking to you, oldschool. But obsession noted. Bell can fight his own fights unless you 2 are lovers or something and you're bent out of shape about it?

C) I thought better of that language and changed it. Confusing to you? Are you crying or something?

Nothing to fight. I pointed out that cheating is only cheating when it fits your narrative, then it’s “evening the playing field” , according to you.

Because that's the rule and it was cheating? Because on the field filming creates a distinct advantage? Just spitballing here.

Heh. Ridiculous if you actually believe that drivel. Yeah, it looks bad. Because he's a liar and a cheater.

Uh huh. I guess those laws of physics only exist in Boston. Give me a break.

Dishonest again. Every time you type something.

All in good fun man. Lighten up....

So those professors as far away from Boston as USC are simply liars?

Haven't seen that link. Please provide. Sounds fishy to me but if you say so. I'd also submit that there aren't any other instances of deflated balls? Sure don't remember any Joe Montana or Troy Aikman were slinging around. Have any proof of this happening anywhere else? Didn't think so.

Cheaters aren't GOATs in my book. Shout me down all you want but sorry.

No I took reading and reality.

Still waiting on instances of this magical physical phenomenon occuring somewhere else in the known universe besides Gillette Stadium.
