OT: Drones and Fishing

Thinking about getting one to Surf fish with..Hook ya line on then send it out way beyond the breaker and drop the line, might be worth looking into...LOL, its hard to throw big reel line out very far, of course I could be playing with that MFer in the Nueces county jail after the game wardens got thru with my ass thats the downside...LOL, I wonder if its legal?

FYI---- those drones are only as powerful as the engine you use to power them.

So think about this----- you hook a trout and the trout is struggling and BAM, bull shark swims by and gulps down struggling trout as well as the hook in said trout's mouth and the line connected to your VERY expensive drone. And because you have a steel leader on your hook, Mr Bull Shark isn't biting through that leader.

Conclusion-- you will sit helplessly on the dock as your drone is towed out to sea by the shark.

I mean just flying it out to the end of breakwater and dropping the hook and sinker and bait then bring it back to PU, not many people can throw way the hell out there where the fish are

I've seen people using them for bait dropping many times.
Most of them modified a DJI phantom with a servo to release bait. Problem is if anything goes wrong you splash $2k for good.

There are a few drones made specifically for bait deployment. They are built waterproof just in case. Google swellpro for an example. These things ain't cheap. Another way people have done it is with the use of a kontiki. Mostly a New Zealander thing but again, there are a few American products for a cool 2 grand.

We still bait drop the old fashioned way, by getting our butts hammered on an OK Frenzy kayak. Gets kinda sketchy when shark fishing at night though. Gotta feel the wave trough then hold on.
