OT: The Big 12 is a dead conference

The stagnating quality of the Big 12 has become a negative feedback loop. I don't see any way for it to recover.

Unless Oklahoma and Texas are BOTH consistently in the hunt for the playoffs year in and year out, the Big 12 is over. But we knew that 8 years ago.

The slow death of this conference is evident in recruiting. Texas best athletes leaving for out of state programs. Texas wont be coming back any time soon, the Sooners represent the best chance at respectability in this conference. The time is past for this conference to break up and teams find new homes. Texas has become the most over rated program ever. Even if Texas were to rise back to prominence, why would a five star recruit want to come to a school to play Baylor? TCU? West Virginia? Everything is here for a real power program but the right coach, and the right attitude. We are viewing the results of poor management and poor hiring decisions. It wont be long till the results on the basketball court mimic what we are seeing in football. Either the Big 12 disassembles, or it slowly dies and falls out of the group of power conferences.

Can’t argue with you about football, but have you seen the top 25 rankings for hoops?
Big 12 I think has 5 or 6 in top 25, and maybe 4 in top 15? Going to be a dogfight in conference play.
