My concerns about Trump are many, but I intend to give credit where credit is due. I think his intention to bring disparate factions together to create jobs is real. Listening to both CEO's and union leaders coming out of their meetings with Trump, I am encouraged. Trump particularly impressed the union leaders and told them he wants pipe fitters and other guys in blue jeans in the Oval Office so he can listen to them. The open door policy in the WH which I hope is a mainstay of the Trump administration is encouraging. He wants to talk to everyone and learn. It remains to be seen whether this can be translated into policy and jobs, but the tone and the action is all good. The pipeline is a largely symbolic thing I don't care too much about. The bottom line is that Trump may well be able to get things done - like massive infrastructure improvement - that Hillary would have had no chance to get done - not for a lack of desire, but because she would have been unable, like Obama, to get anything through Congress. The promise of Trump has always been that he could and would shake shake up the calcified dynamic in Washington that stifles anything and everything. Obama was frustrated by it and Hillary would have been more of the same. I'm rooting for Trump to pull this off. My God does this country need infrastructure. I don't care who gets credit for it. Just get the shite done.
