Probate question for attorney

I am trying to help out a family that is not financially sophisticated and has gone through some recent tragedy.

Their son was killed recently in a deadly car accident. He had no will or no spouse/children. The parents are trying to do two things. 1) Get control of his estate so they can sell his car and clean up his financial affairs. 2) Get control of the personal items (possibly sentimental) that the police have collected from the accident.

The problem is that the clock is ticking on some of these items. For example, the police gave them 90 days. But based on the timeline that was told to them for probate, there’s no way they can meet that deadline. That is quite stressful to the family.

It has been suggested to them by the police and the banks that if they had an attorney involved, the process could move faster. Is this true?

Can anyone recommend someone in Dallas that might be able to help? Preferably someone that can speak Spanish and not expensive.

Any advice is appreciated. I have no idea how probate works.
