18 years ago. I was still living in TX and I went to get some coffee. Somebody said an airplane crashed into the WTC. At first I thought it was an accident then another crashed into the other one. First I called my father then my
my wife. Everything felt eerie like there was no sign of life around. The world changed forever that day. I knew without watching tv that Osama Bin Laden was behind it. It took us 10 years but we finally got that son of a bitch. Remember the 2977 people that died that day.

I was at the house of a girl I was seeing. Her father called and woke me up--- we had been out the night before-- and he told me to turn on the TV.

I had been standing there for about five minutes watching when I said out loud "why is that ass hole flying so closely by the towers when he knows a plane has already OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH LLLLLLLEEEEEEE FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCC"---- that was what I said.

She was supposed to be at the Capitol that day for work and of course I shut that down right there.

I was at work downstairs in our “cafeteria” when I noticed everyone watching the tv. Didn’t think anything of it until my coworker told me a plane crashed into one of the buildings. And then we started to watch the news and bam another one. Heart sank and after that I knew something was up. That day the whole office was quiet. I work in IT and the help desk is close by and not very many phone calls were taken. Every body was watching the news. A very emotional day.

My girlfriend at the time woke me up after the 1st crash. (I was starting leave so I slept in) When the 2nd hit my heart sank....then I got pissed.

My 1st Shirt sent runners to beat on everyones doors to inform us we're on threatcon delta and have a 100% recall.
I knew right then and there who it was and generally where I would be going. Sure enough, 3 days later I was headed to Al Jabbar awaiting forward deployment.
That moment completely altered the remaining 7yrs of my service and consequently my life. We've all been affected in one way or another and have to make a concerted effort to make sure this next generation understands the players and motifs.

There are now 18yr olds that were not alive when this happened. That's crazy.

If he was your 1st shirt were you his butter bar?

Negative. 1st Sgt is basicly the highest punishment authority over the enlisted pukes before you have to deal with your CO. A house daddy if you will. They also dealt with a lot of in-house HR.

I didn't finish my degree until later anyways.

Ohhhh did you read that as me saying MY 1st Shirt, as in ownership? I meant "my" as in my management.
Yes. He was YOUR 1st shirt meaning your senior NCO under your command. I don't know if you were an officer or actually worked for a living. I know you can't be an O6 because all O6's are a--holes bucking for a flag officer spot.
