There is so much nonsense written about Bannon on the Internet. Much is inherently contradictory...That somehow he is an anti-semite for being too pro-Israel...That somehow he is anti-Catholic for embracing traditional Catholic positions against Liberation theology.

He is definitely a culture warrior, who is willing to stand up for traditional values. But, his belief in Capitalism is tempered by his expectation that free markets should serve a purpose that helps humanity...."where there is a moral responsibility to use the wealth one has for the common good, where the Almighty on Judgment Day will call us each to account for the fortune with which He has prospered us individually." The quoted portion is from an article I read that I will link and will give you an idea about Steve as a person and the prism through which he views politics and economics.

Here's another good article that links to his speech at a Vatican conference a few years ago. Anyone who disparages Bannon by calling him a White Nationalist or any other fascist designation simply doesn't get the guy. He wants a virtuous society that helps the less fortunate and serves the common good while at the same time creating wealth and economic growth.
