Boys, I'm rolling to Tallaf*%kingdega this weekend for the ARCA and Xfinity race on Saturday and the Gieco 500 Cup race on Sunday. Riley Green is playing Saturday night in the infield. Love that guy!
This will be my fourth time. It will be epic! It always is.

I think this happened in 1986. Some dude stole the freakin pace car before the race and proceeded to make a lap. The guy is a lifetime legend. Only in Talladega! If you've never been, go sometime. It is off the hook. The people watching is worth the price of admission, lol.

Is this the part where we start telling Ricky Bobby jokes?

I'm a mild fan of the movie. Dude, if you ever go to a race weekend there you'll get it. There is nothing like Talladega. The infield parties at night are of legend.

I’m like you and soccer vs racing. Turn left, turn left. No thanks.
Enjoy though, have a good time.

It's a lifelong thing with me. I grew up going to the races with my grandad, dad and brother. They're gone now. I'm keeping the tradition with my son. Great times!

Yeah it’s a little more to it than that. It’s turning left at 200 freaking mph with 40 other assholes screaming all around you. Yes it can get boring on TV, but at least there’s always a winner.

I can tell that you've never been to a race. If you ever went to one you would have a different perspective. It's not just "turning left".

My goodness, I must have struck a nerve. Relax, I’m just poking fun at you, just like you and your view of soccer.
Yes, I’ve been to a race and I will make it out to COTA some time. There used to be a big track between Houston and college station back in the 70’s that my dad and grandpa took us to. It was cool. I just remember it being extremely loud. I also witnessed a pit crew member being killed by being struck by another racer on pit row during the race. I can’t remember the name of that track, maybe someone else recalls it.
Still, there’s a lot of left turns. ;)
Oh, and to keep you updated, Austin FC won again last night and I believe is in first place!!

You didn't strike a nerve at all. Makes no difference to me if you like racing or not. :)

You're talking about Texas World Speedway just outside of College Station. TWS was a two mile, high banked oval. For years, AJ Foyt held the Indy car speed record turned at that track, 214 MPH. That's where I went many, many times with my grandad, dad and brother. I was at that race where one of the pit crew members was hit and killed by a car on pit road. There is a reason why there is now a speed limit and also a limit of the number of pit crew guys over that wall during pit stops. Safety has come a long way on racing. TWS has since been demolished and is now a residential development.

I'm about to head to the track for the Geico 500. Yesterday's races were awesome! I did the Talladega Garage Experience yesterday. They knocked it out of the park with that new renovation! Amazingly cool set up! https://www.talladegasuperspeedway.com/garage-experience/

There's only 1 race I care about seeing. Isle of Man. Nothing like it in the world.

Yeah, more to soccer than kickball too fwiw.

"Always a winner." LOL, at least in soccer they don't tank games to get a higher draft position. Soccer is at the very least a merit based sport...unlike our socialist leagues here in the States.

Not a huge race fan myself, but I do enjoy a few of them. My mom and brother are big race fans.

I hope to get to Bristol one day. Like it much more than Talladega. I wouldn't mind Sonoma and/or Darlington too. Martinsville and Dover would be neat. There is one other track under a mile I'd like to visit...Richmond maybe?

Hope you had a good time. I’m open minded about most sports, so in this case I put it on the tube and caught glances of the race while I did other things around the house. Looked exciting and a good finish. What I didn’t understand was the “stage 1 and stage 2”?
I also kept looking for someone wearing a Longhorn hat in that crowd.
