Austin, Texas, Baby
In his first campaign, Trump said he would do the following things:
  1. He said he would defeat ISIS: They were a very big deal back in 2016, but I don't think I've heard much from them lately. He even bombed their leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, for good measure. The media should have praised this move, but instead they told us it would lead to global anarchy. Hah.
  2. He said he would lower the corporate tax rate to bring jobs and tax dollars back to the USA -- I think this was his first accomplishment. And it worked, although the media won't give him credit. Businesses were off-shoring their headquarters to avoid paying our old tax rates. Trump lowered the rate and leaned on them to bring it back home.
  3. He said he would bring jobs back to the USA - This is likely his greatest accomplishment. Partly from lowering the corporate tax rate, and partly from leaning on CEOs directly. Apple builds Macbooks in Austin now instead of China. Car makers came back to Detroit from Mexico. Unemployment was at a record low before Covid. You know how to get rioters to stop looting and protesting in the streets? Get them a meaningful job.
  4. Get our military out of meaningless foreign wars -- Obama couldn't get our troops home. Trump did. The number of soldiers deployed overseas is at a long-time low right now.
  5. Make us energy independent - Thanks to shale fracking, we are not dependent on the middle east to keep our wheels turning. I shudder to think what would happen to this country if AOC and her Green New Deal ever came to power.
  6. Make other countries pay for our military protection -- Germany was taking advantage of us by not honoring their commitments to pay for military protection. Trump put his foot down and now they are committed to paying for what they use.
  7. Rewrite bad trade deals - Many of you probably don't know this, but the primary driver for Trump running for president was our bad trade deals. He was so frustrated with GW Bush over NAFTA and Obama over China (and his whole apology tour). So over the past two years, Trump has re-written all of those deals to be more favorable to the USA. He should be lauded for the way he has taken on China in particular. No other politician has the stones to go toe-to-toe the way Trump does.
I did not vote for Trump in 2016. I couldn't get past his personality. So I voted the Libertarian ticket out of protest. But I can now say that Trump is the most accomplished President in my lifetime -- and that goes all the way back to Kennedy.

Libs can't separate the personality from the policies. But if they care about their country they should learn how.
