Offensive lineman Nick Petit-Frere is one of the nation’s top overall prospects, and he’s done a good job of keeping everyone guessing on where he might wind up committing. The Tampa Berkeley Prep standout has taken official visits to Michigan and Notre Dame, leaving him with three more trips to use this month, should he decide to take all visits.

One school hoping to work its way into Petit-Frere’s final grouping and get the big man on campus is the Texas Longhorns. Texas offered Petit-Frere very early in the recruiting process and some Texas commitments have been giving their own recruiting pitch to the 6-5, 265-pounder during this week’s Under Armour All-American Game practices.

"I have heard from them. They're very respectful about my process, which is an amazing thing and I'm very humbled,” Petit-Frere said about his conversations with the Longhorn commitments. “They're telling me that it's a great program, but they want to make sure it's my decision. I'm grateful that they were that respectful to me."

A Rivals100 member, Petit-Frere said he didn’t sign in the Early Signing Period because he was focused on his senior season. He’s unsure, as of this week, which schools will get visits in January.

"I'm not sure yet. I'm going to try to figure it out with my mom," Petit-Frere said.

A four-star prospect, Petit-Frere ranks No. 67 on the Rivals100 but could be in for a bump after a strong showing during Under Armour week. The Texas coaches have been in contact him and Petit-Frere said he’s family with UT’s history and strong academic reputation.

“They have talked to me. It's a great school, one of the storied programs in college football,” Petit-Frere said. “It's an amazing football program with great academics as well. They're in consideration."

So who might get the last visits from Petit-Frere? He’s not tipping his hand and says the majority of the schools that have offered him are still under consideration.

"Most schools I'm being recruited by are still the schools I'm looking at right now," he said.
