Folks-

Was at the Town Hall last night and I'm actually the guy that asked about Rodney Terry's status and got to see CDC's response up close and personal. As you all know, CDC is a freaking stud and we could not ask for a better leader of UT Athletics!

Anwar's Tweet was accurate on CDC's response, but could be seen as not complete. Throughout his presentation, CDC made it a point that Football and Men's Basketball are the top revenue generators for Texas Sports. Every other sport is a financial loss for UT Athletics.

That being said, I asked about the since Football & Basketball are the top revenue generators for UT Athletics, and the importance of Men's Basketball as a revenue generator for ALL of UT Athletics, with a brand new shiny, state of the art arena, there is no denying that our basketball program is currently trending negatively (acknowledging that the season is still going on and has not ended). I asked what was going to be done to address the Basketball Program and Coach Terry at the end of the season.

CDC was quite graceful as you would expect (and even a bit uncomfortable) and made the statement regarding that just a couple of years ago we won the Big 12 & went to the Round of 8. He went on to say that last season, we went to the Round of 32. At that point, CDC did discuss the ebbs and flows that every program goes thru and how last season we were the toughest conference in the country (Big 12) and this season we're in the toughest conference (SEC).

The cool thing about these events is getting to read the body language of people when they're speaking. And with a great leader like CDC, he isn't going to come out and say, "Rodney Terry's ass is toast come the end of the season!". Instead, he will make an educated, well thought-out decision and move on from there whether Terry returns or is let go. That being said, with the state commitment about winning National Championships at ALL levels that CDC discusses time and time and time and time again throughout his conversations, it's hard to believe that with Men's Basketball being as important as it is to the financial success of ALL UT Athletics that RT returns next season. JMHO
