I guess all men are not created equal. This is not a good look for the NFL. And why only black coaches? What about Latino coaches? Or Asian coaches? Or middle eastern coaches?
Or white running backs or DB------ I mean I know those are positions based on certain skills sets---- and in order to. Be a starter you have to prove you have those skill sets---- but isn't being a head coach also about having certain skill sets?Good grief. This idea is so wrong in every way. Why stop at coaches and go all the way-They could add black punter and black kicker incentives while they are at it.
Jay z has an agenda. He wants into the owners club. Don't kid yourself--- Jay z may appear to be doing things that support black athletes (some of the highest wage earners on the planet) but in reality, he's slowly wedging his way into the system so he can buy a team.
Bingo. Charlie Strong May get an NFL gig now LOLRidiculous, and a double standard. What is the ratio of black players to white players, 85/15? Where is the outrage about that?
I'm not quite on board with this sentiment. Regardless of color, if I was on the sideline awaiting a chance, I'd be p*ssed as sh*t that somehow Jason Garrett hung onto a job for a full decade. 10 years! I'd submit that he was hired on merit, but that he wore that out 5 years ago (at least). Two black Longhorns seem to be all in with this possibility. Manny Acho and Bryan Carrington.
I'm not a minority HC candidate so my opinion is moot, but this sure seems racist against minority candidates to me. Hey, they're not good enough to be hired on merit so we'll bribe NFL owners to hire more GMs and HCs of color.

Hey - I agree that this is not the way to go about it. The only point I'm open to is that "merit" does not seem to play into every hiring/retention decision. BTW - point taken on Marvin Lewis.I'm assuming you'd say the same about Marvin Lewis as well?
Look, I know there is a problem with some owners in the NFL when it comes to coaches of color. Some of the owners, through their actions, seem to think only white folk can lead a franchise. But I don't see how this is the way to go about it...
There's an old racist trope about hiring a "token" minority in order to have the appearance of racial diversity. This now rewards an organization for having a "token" minority. This is a form of racism and it shouldn't be tolerated.
I think the NFL is just trying to get rid of the good ole boy hirings of the past. Now I don't agree with this but there is a major unbalance between minorities being hired in the coaching and gm rank. Two black Longhorns seem to be all in with this possibility. Manny Acho and Bryan Carrington.

There is. No doubt. But two of the more consistent teams over the last 15 years have been the steelers and the ravens. Tomlin and Ozzie Newsome have been stalwart figures as HC and GM-- but guess what? Guys like those two cats don't grow on trees.I think the NFL is just trying to get rid of the good ole boy hirings of the past. Well as they say....the road to hell is paved with good intentions....Agreed. But like I said above, this seems like a heart in the right place, but the brain is stumbling type move.
