I guess all men are not created equal. This is not a good look for the NFL. And why only black coaches? What about Latino coaches? Or Asian coaches? Or middle eastern coaches?

Ridiculous, and a double standard. What is the ratio of black players to white players, 85/15? Where is the outrage about that?

In essence, punishing teams for hiring a white coach Or gm (if it passes). They won’t be happy until their are almost no white coaches or gm’s left.

Good grief. This idea is so wrong in every way. Why stop at coaches and go all the way-They could add black punter and black kicker incentives while they are at it.

Or white running backs or DB------ I mean I know those are positions based on certain skills sets---- and in order to. Be a starter you have to prove you have those skill sets---- but isn't being a head coach also about having certain skill sets?

Two black Longhorns seem to be all in with this possibility. Manny Acho and Bryan Carrington.

I'm not a minority HC candidate so my opinion is moot, but this sure seems racist against minority candidates to me. Hey, they're not good enough to be hired on merit so we'll bribe NFL owners to hire more GMs and HCs of color.

I'm not quite on board with this sentiment. Regardless of color, if I was on the sideline awaiting a chance, I'd be p*ssed as sh*t that somehow Jason Garrett hung onto a job for a full decade. 10 years! I'd submit that he was hired on merit, but that he wore that out 5 years ago (at least).

The issue I have is it literally punishes teams for not firing anyone.

A team that should have picked after you in the 3rd round of the draft now has the pick a few spots or right in front of you because of who they hired. Your team just moved down a spot in the draft, potentially missing out on a player you wanted, and all you're guilty of is not needing a new head coach or GM.

I'm assuming you'd say the same about Marvin Lewis as well?

Look, I know there is a problem with some owners in the NFL when it comes to coaches of color. Some of the owners, through their actions, seem to think only white folk can lead a franchise. But I don't see how this is the way to go about it...

There's an old racist trope about hiring a "token" minority in order to have the appearance of racial diversity. This now rewards an organization for having a "token" minority. This is a form of racism and it shouldn't be tolerated.

Hey - I agree that this is not the way to go about it. The only point I'm open to is that "merit" does not seem to play into every hiring/retention decision. BTW - point taken on Marvin Lewis.

Y'all are looking at this wrong. This plays into jerry's hands perfectly. He could fire himself, hire 1 token to be coach and gm, then do business as usual. We all know jerry calls the plays from the booth. Also, all jerry needs is an earpiece for the coach/gm on draft day and viola, jerry gets more picks.

This is kind of what I was thinking. But then there were minority sports types that were applauding this. And some that were offended. So I guess just like everything else, lol.

They keep this stuff up, they gonna shut it down, or someones gonna file a big Law suit and there's gonna be a long line of players unemployed and trying to get a job at KFC....I believe that it should be equal across the board, there's enough for everyone without trying to be one sided, maybe this will be the thing that tears the NFL apart....somethings gonna give sooner or later...

I think the NFL is just trying to get rid of the good ole boy hirings of the past. Now I don't agree with this but there is a major unbalance between minorities being hired in the coaching and gm rank.

There is. No doubt. But two of the more consistent teams over the last 15 years have been the steelers and the ravens. Tomlin and Ozzie Newsome have been stalwart figures as HC and GM-- but guess what? Guys like those two cats don't grow on trees.
