He was released by the Ravens just a couple of hours ago. The final straw was getting into a fight with teammate Chuck Clark in practice. Now a fight between teammates is no big deal but its usually offense against defense this was between 2 safeties and Earl punched Chuck Clark and was sent home. Now lets rewind to Earl's time in Baltimore.
He showed up there out of shape. He made no effort to learn the defense just went out there and did his thing which angered his teammates. He made all pro but maybe that was because of his rep. Then there was the incident with his wife back in March. No need to rehash that especially on this board. But in the off season he missed a lot of workouts with teammates. He missed a lot of meetings proof that be still wasn't interested in learning the defense.
Which led to the fight on Friday with Chuck Clark. Clark threw his helmet down in anger when Thomas missed a coverage and let Thomas know how angry he was with him about everything and then Thomas threw his punch and was sent home.
Now here's where it gets sad. Thomas put out an Instagram giving his side of the story. His grammar wasn't even third grade quality. Ok you don't have to spell like you went to Harvard but still... Wisely he deleted the video but here's where it gets worse. This workout showed formations, sets, everything. My goodness is he really that dense? I wish I could get ahold of Muschamp I'd like to ask him did be even know the defense when he played for us? Now I understand why Seattle didn't want him anymore.
So now comes what will be a bitter battle between the Ravens and the NFLPA. Earl Thomas is due to make 10 mil this year. Do the Ravens have other ET stories in their back pocket? There is speculation in Dallas that coach Jerry who wanted ET the first time has cleared salary space just for this which can save the Ravens some money. Welcome to Dallas Mike McCarthy and good luck .
I was looking forward to seeing 4 longhorns in the starting lineup of a team that's favored to win the SB. But the positive side to this is that Deshaun Elliot is favored to succeeded Earl Thomas. DE was a great ball hawk for us in 2017 coach Herman's first year. But he's been on injured reserve for all but 6 games. If he can stay healthy he can start he has NFL caliber talent. That would give the Ravens 3 horns in starting lineup Devin, Justin, and Deshaun Elliot.
