Past leaders like Jefferson and Washington and Stephen F Austin and Sam Houston etc are said to be great man that had the flaw of owning slaves. During their time slavery was legal, normal and excepted. Sexual defiance and sexual assault were never legal and accepted.
Time to pull down his statues and remove his name from the holiday. Maybe we can rename the holiday "National Civil Rights Day" and distance it from a man that did vial acts.
